You have to buy land, it's a country. But once you do they pretty much leave you alone. Actually it has a pretty cool history, it was originally habitated by the lucayans and columbus made his first landing in the bahamas, enslaved the people and shipped them to Hispanola (30,000 of them) and in a few years they all died off. It was then re-occupied by english and was inhabited by both freed slaves and loyalists after the american revolution.

why would i want to buy land when i could anchor up anywhere i want in the bahamas for $300 a year?

Most of the land is owned by people, so you would buy it from the owner, some may be gov't owned, I dunno. You would follow the bahamian gov't laws, just like when you visit canada you follow thier laws and mexico you follow theirs. They are just less intrusive, they don't really give a **** what you do as long as you aren't off killing passer bys and ****. oh and they have no income taxes. Is what close to the bahamas? read the link, there are like 2000 cays and 700 islands in the bahamas archipelago. So yes, they are all "close to the bahamas" as they are all part of the bahamas. Even the most northern cay is "close to the bahamas" it IS the bahamas.

$ 1.278 per litre for 87 octane today

That would be $4.903 per gallon in American pesos
