i really hate having a cluttered 1800+ horse power workspace

1, Zakspeed probe turbo motor under my bench 700hp in mild form (15psi)

1 mercedes clk 230 motor (3rd from left bare block) 270+ hp (speed touring car series)

2 formula fords under the bench 117 hp x2

1 1700 cc lotus twincam 170 hp

1 330 ferrari GT-C V12 disassembled on other bench, less block 300hp

1 250 ferrari v12 on that same bench, less block 200 hp

1 nissan a14 GT4 car motor 180 hp (1.4 liter!) on the rollaround

1 Cosworth YBM, awaiting disassembly after a hard season of vintage enduros in a chevron b16 sports racer

i'll be busy for about 2 weeks lol

That's a nice work area.. Looks like a real shop! I just rent a little old garage...

j9fd3s 06-02-2004 09:31 PM

i like your workspace neek. i had to load $40,000 of kia parts into a van today, not exactly exciting

venomrx7 06-02-2004 09:32 PM

where the **** do you work, apex??? get me a job? i work on 2 strokes all day, a bump up to a v12 would be nice.........

Apex13B 06-02-2004 09:53 PM

Thats pimp as hell. one day, i will at least do something like that on the side, if not full time. i love building motors, especially when you can go watch them win races, thats the best evar!!

how many people are in your shop? I work on a 4 person pit crew, one for body, one for chassis, and me and one other guy for engine and drivetrain. its great.

venomrx7 06-02-2004 10:10 PM

I wish the racing season was goin on right now, i miss working on those cars, its fun, wish it was year round https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Apex13B 06-02-2004 10:18 PM

heh?...race season is in full swing. The shop i work at builds and develops race motors only. I take them apart and inspect all the pieces microscopially and make them squeaky clean 2 guys are building motors continoiusly, and 2 ppl dyno all day!

5 people!....5-7 motors a week out the door

venomrx7 06-02-2004 10:30 PM

well, race season here is short, its a 1/2 mile dirt track car, its fun, but nothing compared to building a v-12 im sure. its a 2 car team, and we have 4 motors total, 2 in the cars, 2 back up, all are chevy 350's, 13.5:1 compression, run 118 octane, adn lay down some good numbers, but we have never dyno'd them, each engine sees 4 races, then rebuild, even if its still running. i don't get payed for it, but it is an education if nothing else. and the team is one family, and all of them are friends.

I used to wrench on the "McChicken Racing" Chevron B16. It was owned by Ed Henning and raced from 1986-1992. Then the Wharehouse/shop (50,000 sq. ft) with all the cars, transporter and equipment MYSTERIOUSLY burned after the owner was caught having an affair by his wife.

Several GREAT cars were lost FOREVER!!!!

Aston Martin DB4 GT

Several Ferraris

A Cosworth YBM https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png where do you work? I would also like to know where the 1700 Lotus came from - I can't think of any 1700cc Lotus's apart from possibly the old Elan, but I thought that was smaller https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif .
