okay so if the facts are correct then a n/a cannot go that fast..

So then only a t2 or a manual can go the fast ,uh huh.

So if speedomters are wrong on older cars especailly at high speeds then it means all rx7's that old (Fc) have a problem withthe speedomter. So why should it be more beleiveable if u have a t2, than if u have a n/a.. Cause a t2 is more powerful and stick?

It seems strange and not at all possible, BUT there are "strange" circumstances where your car gets possesed by some weird force and can go faster than before.

For instance. In high school i had a 93 Ford Taurus. 3.0 liter auto with 150k on it... My friend had a BMW 325 is. We were racing down this long straightaway, and i buried my speedo @ 85... I was right beside him and we were speeding up... i still had pedal in this piece of ****.. anyways, Motor trend rated my Taurus up to like 103 or 108mph (not sure) but we were going up through 115mph... then up to 120mph... He was screaming out the window "Dude, your car is going over 120 ******* mph !" ... I couldn't believe it.. yeah, his speedo may have been off a few.. but you gotta believe in those rare instances or about how your car may somehow runs a little differently than some...

strange ****... ask wraith about this story.. my taurus shocked the hell outta him... think he was confused for a long time after that... hehe
see like i said and have thought of before. YOu have two cars built on the same production line by the same people and right next to one another. when those two cars leave the factory , you telling me theyre both going to be the same. Run the same , handle the same and respond the same way. NO , hell ******* no. some n/as are naturally quicker than others, Others t2 are quicker than others and so on and so on. So people here , some of them are not being realistic and are judgine a few n/as that theysee cant do **** and not thinking of other rx7 in general . These are the small closed minded ********.

And you people talk all this ****. But when u finallymeet people u dont talk like that to there face.

Going off the tangent but, like here mad heads talk **** online, when i went to a meet in NJ, 80% of the peoople that went didnt speak a word there all quiet and to themselves. What ever i say here to your s/n i will say it to your face!. take that how u want it. But waht i think i say and or type, ill do , that my word.

Whatever, dude....it's still a pain in the *** to get my FC over 110, possibly due to being scared **** of the higher speeds...that and she bounces around quite a bit the faster you go. And keep in mind that mine's a T2.

We just find it a little doubtful about your story of you doing 138mph in an N/A AT FC. But, if you believe you did, fine, whatever, believe what you want, we weren't there, remember? We just have our doubts and you get all huffy.

Wraith's story does make sense, hell, my roomate's old Taurus wagon did over 100 once(DOWNHILL OF COURSE, but still)....don't trust a speedo. Like one poster already said, the only thing you can accurately trust is a cop's radar gun.

iight! so you would rather beleive a ford tarus doing over 110mph than a rx7dooing 110mph. WHat is wong with this picture here guys?

Look i beleive and i know rx7 are incredible cars. Mines runs perfectly and everything. the couple of times it gave me problems was from me doing stupid ****, other than that she is fine.

Stop pissing in his cornflakes and just awnser his ******* question. This is not a thread to determine wether or not what he did was justifiable or legal or whatever.

You all own RX-7's dont ******* tell me you havent sped before in them. Even 5mph over the limit is not justified in the eyes of the law.

So please, DO SHUTUP.

Thank you.

I got my n/a 1st gen auto up to 180km/h going downhill...does that count?

The speedometer is a simple electromechanical device, it is required to be accurate enough to the higher legal speed limits. As an electromechanical device, the gauge has a certain degree of hysteresis. Meaning that the as the magnet drive has the magnetic force becoming more intense, the magnetization properties of the gauge drive (motor) change. Sometimes the change is very little, sometimes it's very large.

I think, however, what we're getting at is that an NA/AT FC may not be geared properly to have enough usable torque to overcome the wind resistance of the less-than-aerodynamicly effecient body style.

While I have no doubt that your speedo could have read nearly 140MPH, I also have a tendancy to believe that your gauge was severely misreading. Given the circumstances, being a vehicle with relatively little power and an extreme parasitic loss through the driveline, coupled with a high overall coefficent of drag, it would make the feat you achieved outstanding. Although it is entirely possible.. I will eat these words if you ever get stopped for doing 138MPH and post a copy of your ticket, though!

On a personal note, RR7, you seem to be acting unnecessarily defensive in this post. All I'm saying is that your expressed anger may be unwarranted in this situation. If you really did 138MPH, congratulations, that's quite impressive. What's important here is what you accomplished, not what everyone else thinks.
