The Saga continues, after waiting several months to see if we were going to sue them, they send a bill for $36,000. My Dad and I had talked about it and decided that it wasn't worth suing for, we didn't need the added stress and it is hospital they do try and do right by their patience... or so we felt.

So I call and leave a message last night explaining that I had not planned on going to an attorney but due to the bill we had recieved we felt we had no other recourse.

My phone has been ringing off the hook this morning. Their "Risk Assessment" department (whatever that is) keeps calling me and they are holding an emergency meeting this morning. Amazing what it takes to motivate these bastards. I think they finally pushed my Dad to the point where he will sue and donate the money to the Kidney Foundation or something, just to make the point. LOL I think it would be funny to have them make out the check to a charity.

36 thousand. GEEEJUS christ.

Mebbe you should move here Phins! For what you've got in your condo you get a 2500 sqft new house in the nicest part of town with a 50 x 120 ft lot.

Plus free health care.

Or you could move where Colin lives and buy three city blocks.

Well insurance will pay for most of that, my Dad will have a small posrtion to pay, but that's not the point. I was given a clear indication by the director of the hospital that the bill would be taken care of. I just assumed, since this took place in December that it was a done deal, but all they were doing was waiting to see if we sued so they could go "We never billed him".

I hate sueing people, I think it sucks, causes prices to go up, but I think in this case it's the only way to cause service to improve. I think the only thing that's going to make them think is a hit to the pocket book, we'll just donate the money to a good cause so we don't lose any sleep. Hospitals are just big business now and it's starting to show, the concern lies on how to get their *** out of a sling rather then admitting the mistake and making sure it doesn't happen again in the future.

This is for my Dad, he has insurance, the bill for Amy's deal was a little under $6K, we're paying that off in convenient monthly installments LOL

No there's 2 sides to the story, **** you Scott. You think that everything is the coorporations fault. Oh, "Hospitals are just big business now and it's starting to show, the concern lies on how to get their *** out of a sling rather then admitting the mistake and making sure it doesn't happen again in the future.", please, can you really blame them?

People go to Hospitals now a days just so they are able to find the smallest thing suable over. Doctors are afraid to tend care to patients just because of the risk of getting sued.

Now you come along and blame the Hospital? You should be ashamed of yourself, "we'll just donate the money to a good cause so we don't lose any sleep.", riiiiiiiiiiight. Sure you will, you'll donate money so YOU don't lose sleep. But what about other patients who'll be charged more by that Hospital just because YOU drove the cost up. Pfft, you dad probably didn't even need the surgery, you disgust me.

Yours truly bitch,
