Thanks for the reply. I thought I can reuse the rivets by drilling thru them but end up using bigger bits and trash the rivets. Finally got the bumper installed about 3 hours ago. I need to take it back apart and install the seal as it leave too much of a gap. Can't wait to have it painted!

Mine arrived before the holidays. Thanks for the fast shipping Chuck! $139 was the COD cost to Texas.



There are some pinholes from airbubbles, but the body shop said they should be fixed after a coat or two of prep primer.

Injection urethane part is somewhat porous. Painting polyurethane part is kind of different than painting regular ABS plastic parts or metal parts. It requires special primer, sealant, and paint from what I understand. I am not an expert in painting. I am going to ask a bodyshop to provide me with some guideline on painting polyurethane so I can post here.



If you are going to take it to a bodyshop, make sure they know how to paint polyurethane. If they use the wrong stuff, the paint is going to come off right after you flex the bumper.

A flex additive needs to be added to the paint. Any well known paint/body shop should know how to prep and paint it.

Thanks for the tips. They did say it requires a certain process and I didn't remember the details (that's why I just called it "prep primer" in my post).

Everything looks great, Chuck. Our bumpers just arrived here in DC/VA/MD, so I'm looking forward to assembling the parts.



Anyone had any experience fitting the R1 brake ducts onto the 99 nose+lip yet?



Has anyone test-fit the R1 oil cooler ducts yet? I know Chuck mentioned both test cars were using big oil coolers.

a good body shop will use the proper wash and put it thru a bake cycle in the paint booth before they prime it.



then of course using the proper procedure which includes proper sanding, priming and paint which would vary according to what paint manufacturer is used

The R1 brake ducts won't fit worth a damn with the new openings on the 99 front end. You'll want/need the brake ducts for the 99 for it to mate up correctly and not look ghetto.

I'm still waiting to hear from Davinchi about that downpipe flange. I'll get back to you about that Vband. Thanks for everything.
