The avatars are small not because of a lack of storage space, but because the massive avatars kill load times, with the size allowed and compression it's pretty easy to make 20K, but it can be raised if more then 2 people would like it LOL

 

i like the small avatars, makes browsing better at home on dialup

 

Jesus, don't give him a bigger avatar, between that and the ******* emoticons, the site will NEVER load.
