Well a short block 13B NA (used), can be bought for $500 prety easily, and if I were you I would talk to Kevin Landers at Rotary Resurection, he's a really good guy, and knows what he is doing. And he sells base beuilds for like $1000-1200.

As for the VG30, yes it does have over head cams (I think twin), but the clearance still shouldn't be an issure, and you would have to make everything your self, so that means you would have to have the tools.

But it is very well possible to install it for under $1000 if you already have the motor. I could have had my 7MGTE in my car for $1000 and that is motor, tranny, ECU, harness, ...., includes, but I had to buy a clutch which cost me $350, and I also have to buy a radiator, which will be like another $200, and and exaust system. Along with other things that will pop up here and there, but I should be able to finish it for just under $2000 (twice what I expected).

Anyways, if I were you, and all I wanted was for it to be running and driveing, and I had $1000. Like I said I would talk to Kevin Landers and see what he can do for you.

Or, if you want to try to rebuild your own engine, check out rotary aviation, they sell base rebuild kit for $600, and master rebuild kits for like $800-900.

i would have to send my engine to him though...right?...caus ei can't have my car down for that long, i could do the swap in a weekend with my father and friend(the chevy v-6)...but to send out the rotary to kevin, that is at least two weeks in shippsing, plus shipping costs, not to mention the turn around rate...if i had another car, it wouldn't be a problem, i'd do that, same thing with rebuilding my engine, i'm confident that i could do it, but i know it would take me longer than a weekend

I don't think the Nissan will clear the brake booster.

I'd rule the 2.8 out as they are heavy and don't put out much power in stock form.

How about a Supra Straight 6?? They are smooth as silk and can make huge power.

You might be surprised, check out the 5M-GE from the 84-85 Supras, two valve twin cam, good engines (160hp stock) and not expensive at all.

Hope you can get it going soon, however you decide.

I bought my 7MGTE for $500, and it came with everything that I needed exept for the MAF.

You could buy a 7MGE/7MGTE for the same price and have more power, not to metion they were reworked, and the 7M is all around a better engine (in my eye's), but the 2JZ is even better

And as for the Kevin Landers thing, he is in East TN, so if you are local then you could go there, and dro your old engine off. And I don't know how he does business, but he may just send you an engine that has already been rebuild, and you give him your old one for a core.

But I would ask him, and see what he says about it.

Just to help you out a little bit, there is a motor on that thread for sale, that was rebuilt by Kevin Landers, and has 40,000 miles on it, and a street port. And he's asking 900 for it, but he said he won't ship.

Although most of the time people will ship oncce te find out how easy it realy is to do. And it should cost like $100 or so to ship it.
