Wait, first you say its for SCCA, now you say its for a daily driver? And honestly, the renesis isn't impressive enough to go through all the work to get it into an FC... its a fly by wire system, and the ECU freaks out if you so much as disconnect the climate control. I'd probably be cheaper in the long run to just buy a used RX-8.... you get 2 extra seats. But if you want to be the first, be my guest. I never said it was FOR scca. when I build a car. Its an all-purpose car. grocery getter/street racer/drifter/scca/ect. I dont really like the rx-8 as a whole. but the renesis is a definite upgrade. |
If you want a renesis, buy an RX-8. The great thing about the 8 is handling. I have heard claims from FD owners who say that an 8 handles the same way.

Does anyone know what needs to be done in order for a successful swap? |
All Purpose and SCCA dont mix. You will get shoved into A-Mod or worse.
Good Luck on the project, but I wouls be concerned about the ECU Issues. Another point you conviently gloss over: The quietness of the RX-8: ALOT of that is due to the unique double wall exhaust; take that away and its back to being a rotary noise |

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683561.gif The question is: Does anyone know what needs to be done in order for a successful swap? you need to make engine mounts. the high power renisis either needs the stock ecu, or a really high end aftermarket ecu to switch over the 6port stuff (its driven by stepper motors), plus its expensive. the engine is $2400, but the 6 port intake is $1200, wiring harness is $650, etc etc. at this point it would be less expensive to do a 3 rotor swap. |
I think thier is 6 injectors too.
You would definately need a donor car, and most yards wont let that car go just yet. Still alot of money to be made in parts. |
yea, do the swap...........and the car will still be slow.
save money and turbo it, youll be beating rx8s left and right. kevin./ |

porting, if you didnt know. reduces reliability and most times, needs tuning. also reduces gas milage. And in order to make enough power with your s4/s5 n/a motor, a lot of work has to be done. basically a race built motor. wich sucks for a daily driver. and what good is a car if its for track only...no good. with a renisis you could leave people standing still and still have the the feel of a daily driver. and as for the pictures, I like them. Porting does not reduce reliability. You dont need a race motor to make good power out of a 13B. You have no idea about the time or money you are talking about swapping the motor. Just street port a 13b w/ a good exhaust and intake. OH and tuning is essential to any rotary. If you dont want to do this I suggest a honda w/ lots of stickers and a huge wing on it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683827.gif |
