You will still spend and assload to put a V-6 in your car too. It isnt just as easy as putting it in it is way more complicated than that. It took me 4 months to do the swap and I consider my self a pretty competant mechanic.

You would need

New subframe

Transmission mounts

torque arm

new fuel system

cooling system

wiring which is a challenge

It isnt as easy as some people make it seem and most that make it sound that way have NEVER done any swap. If you are trying to get you car running for as little $$ as possible just rebuild the rotary. It isnt even a contest.

My LS1 FD wasnt cheap but I didnt cut any corners. I probably could do it again cutting corners for maybe 8-10k but thats it. Take away the $4k for the engine and tranny and you are still at 4-6k which is way more than a rotary rebuild if that is your only reason.

Finally to mazdadrifter I think you need to look at reality before you immediately start thinking I am wrong. Odds are once you look at the facts you will realize you are wrong and for a 20b you do have to cut the firewall, it weighs more and sits more in front of the front axle than a LS1.

Brandon - Have you contacted Mazda about the cost of a Factory Rebuilt engine? I think a N/A is in the $1500-$2000 range. You'll have a brand new engine and a warranty. 12 Months 12K miles.

It might seem like a lot of money but its a new engine.

Another option if your mechanically inclined is to rebuild yourself. There is a video on how to do it. You can either buy the video or someone can send you a copy. When you see how sinple these engines are inside your gonna freak. The good news for you is that your engine blew a coolent o-ring so the housings and rotors are probably in good shape. You just need the basic parts for a rebuild. That will run you about $900.

you said all of it's weight was in front of the front axle, not "farth than the ls1"???

you can fit it without cutting, but if you want the same weight distrobution then you cut.

how much does the ls1 weight anyways?10 lbs?? that's the way you guys try to make it sound. And the the 3 rotor is cheaper, and has just as much if not more potential.

My dad bought a Mazda Reman for his FD and it cost him $2200.

WTF is your dealership trying to pull???

Unless maybe an N/A is harder to find thus more expensive. Hmmm.

the price they quoted you was installed, they won't warranty the motor unless they install it I believe. That's what I've been told before by a dealer.

come on man!!! Just stick with the rotary!!

1 the swap will be more expensive to do the v6

2 any carb motor gets terrible gas milage, and is immpossible to tune perfectly

3 when you count in the ineffeciencies of the carb, as well as the lesser displacement of the v6 you just spent a whole lot, to gain no performance

I'm starting to wonder if you have an rx7 at all, or you are just fuking with us. I hope you are.

dude....i'm looking for the cheapest way to get my car back on the road...i don't give a **** about the gas mileage...and other than the instal kit....drive shaft...fuel lines...what do i need to buy? nothing...stock cooling system works...i'm not looking for performance...and how will it be more expensive?...i understand what jim means....because the ls1 is fuel injected, lot more wiring...lot more **** that can go wrong..with a carb(which i hate)...you don't have all the random sensors and ****....lost displacment?...correct me if i'm wrong, but the rotary engine i have is 1.3 ltrs....how is that more than 4.3 ltr v-6? http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view...ee=Mazda%20RX-7

thats a link to my non existent fc
