Srce 08-26-2003 12:49 AM

Where's my pitchfork?

rx7machine 08-26-2003 12:59 AM

Just wondering, why are you wanting to put a vette engine in a 2nd gen?

rx7freddie 08-26-2003 01:00 AM

why would u want to do this ? Where's my pitchfork?

rx7machine 08-26-2003 01:04 AM

look at that pic its fu_king art i dont know how to put it but nothing feels like a rotary . i drove a hooked up v8 when i had a na turbo rx 7 and i still would have the na turbo rx over it . if its two slow for u go turbo .i dont even know what to say i go nuts when i read stuff about v8s in rx 7s .

rx7machine 08-26-2003 01:14 AM

Nice engine bay rx7freddie.

rx7freddie 08-26-2003 01:22 AM

its not mine he’s kind of my hero in a way like how people like baseball stars I like soul assassin hahaha .

rx7machine 08-26-2003 01:54 AM

Oh ok, that's cool. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

BrandonDrecksage 08-26-2003 02:51 PM

so u ask y i would like to do tis....speed and reliablity...i've owned my rx7 for like 4 weeks....overheated 6 tiems an dleft me stranded 3 tiems already...now if u do things right...u won't mess up the weight dist bad.....not saying its gonn abe perfect....but the trade off is like almost triple the torque and atleast double the hp....not to mention the 6th gear. you figure...conservativly....300 hp(real conservative)...ur easily in the high 12s with traction

NaughtyFD 08-26-2003 02:57 PM

Not wanting to start a riot or anything but go to www.torquecentral.com if you want info. I just finished my LS1 FD. There is a guy over there with a LS1 FC named Mark from Alabama that is a good guy. Also check www.hinsonsupercars.com I think he does FC subframes too. Thats where I got my modified subframe from.

BrandonDrecksage 08-26-2003 11:38 PM

thanks a lot man

1987rx7guy 09-09-2003 01:35 PM

How the hell did you overheat your FC six times? WTF is wrong with you? ARe you blind so you can't see your temp guage? My car hasn't overheated EVER even with a blown heater hose I was able to maintaine a low enough temp to get to autozone and get it fxed. Its always the unfortunate 7's that get bastardized by these V8 guys. :(

BrandonDrecksage 09-09-2003 07:47 PM

it was going to overheat....i see the temp go up...so i pull over....i didn't keep runnin on it...r u ******* stupid...i'd have no motor if i kept drivin and didn't pay attention to the temp gauge. not to mention.....i ahve no idea y it is going up...i replaced the thermostat...water pump...fan clutch and all hoses...WTF is going on with my car.

pengaru 09-09-2003 07:54 PM

just put the v8 motor in it, it will surely solve the you don't know what the **** is going on with your car problem. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

FikseRxSeven 09-09-2003 08:03 PM

keep in mind that you're dealing with a car that is more than a decade old.... of course you're gunna have problems.... and an easy way to fix that over heating thing.

replace your radiator and all the hoses that come with it..... you'll be fine... if you plan on doin a v8 swap, save your money for an FD

FiKsE l2X SeVeN Jr 09-16-2003 10:56 PM

I have a suggestion, if u want a Lt1 or an Ls1 engine, go get an f-body. I'm just happy though ur not talking about swapping a skyline or a supra engine in the fc

BrandonDrecksage 09-17-2003 06:52 PM

bcause this car weighs 700 pounds less, plus i already have the car....wanna donate f body for me?...don't read the thread if ur against it *******...hey now that u mention it...maybe i could fit a inline 6 with twin turbos...thanks for the idea prick....oh to the guy about the FD...i would love one, but thats like 14-15 grand for a decent one....i would jsut buy a SRT-4....and to the guy saying i don't know what the **** is going on with my car...yes that would fix it...cause i'd have a diff enigne

FiKsE l2X SeVeN Jr 09-18-2003 09:09 AM

i didn;t think i was coming across as a jerk, i thought i just suggesting something. Anyways...... the ls1 camaros are cheaper now cause they over stocked the last year and didn't sell too much. With the money ur gonna implant a new engine in an old car, might as well get a whole new car.

FiKsE l2X SeVeN Jr 09-18-2003 09:14 AM

and dude, you need to calm down..... you're a tad too hostile and don't think of this as an insult, just another suggestion

FiKsE l2X SeVeN Jr 09-18-2003 04:39 PM

Sorry if i sounded sarcastic before, but atleast ur thinking about a ls1 or lt1 trasplant that makes alot of power than ones that want a supra or skyline enigne

Ahhh, so you would rather have some PO-DUNCK V8, rather than a Japanese motor tha is capable of high RPM's.

hey now that u mention it...maybe i could fit a inline 6 with twin turbos...

There ya go! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png That sounds good to me.

Don't get me wrong I like the V8's, but just for there low end torque, and that awsome rumble they have with a roller cam. I just don't like the fact that there RPM rang is very low compared to most import motors.

With the money ur gonna implant a new engine in an old car, might as well get a whole new car.

Would you shut that gapeing hole n your face, before anything else stupid falls out of it!!!

Have you ever done any custom engine swap, I'm gona say no, by the attitude and ignorance you have to it. But I can compete my supra7 and have about 250-275 HP for under $1500-$2000. And I could probably upgrade the turbo in that price to, but it would be cutting it pretty close.

i scanned thru this whole thread, and there was 2 responses

that answered his question, you people need to ease up.

If he was swapping a rotory into something else you would be giving him praise.

freddie- im sure you know that soul's car is long disassembled after he blew his last motor and left the country right? not like he did any of his own work anyhow.

FikseRxSeven 09-18-2003 09:05 PM

Alright, yeah, i'm probably just biased about rotary engines. Like the 3-rotor deloran. I'll shut the **** up wanna be boosted. cool?

FiKsE l2X SeVeN Jr 09-18-2003 09:10 PM

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...withstupid.gif actually that's my post, i just accidentally used the wrong computer.

BrandonDrecksage 09-19-2003 06:19 AM

FiKsE l2X SeVeN Jr sorry for taht, but everytime i post something about swapping in a diff engine, people jump on me...i mean this is the engine swap section, people need to not read what doesn't interest them hey Rob x-7 thanks for stucking up for the people that want a diff motor in their 7.....and to the guy about the jap engines that rev high....i would take a 6000 or 6500(not sure on a LT1 or LS1) redline any day of my 7s 8000, because it has almost triple th torque and double the hp...and with what 1500-2000 lost in RPMs...not a big deal when i chirp em goin into 4th and 5th

lmfao...soul assassin never built an engine(or ported for that matter) a 13B in his life. He PAID someone to do everything. I'm surprised he could hook up a turbo timer...now he's into the Cyclones or some gay ****...

jspecracer7 09-19-2003 07:39 AM

And for all of you who keep chiming in...if you have EVER rebuilt your own engine...then MAYBE you could speak up. It takes a lot of fabrication and knowhow to do an engine swap. I GUARANTEE NOBODY that has posted could pull this off except for ONE person(not including myself)

wanta be boosted 09-19-2003 02:47 PM

My brother and I could do that. And we wouldn't have to cut the fire wall, and of course the worst thing would be wireing it up.

I am not sure what your point is. So I am supposed to do an amature rebuild in order to gain respect instead of having a shop like Pettit racing rebuild my motor??

I wouldn't bother to do that swap. How much honestly does it cost?? I cannot be cheap. There has to be a lot of custom stuff done to get that engine to fit. Wiring the ECU cannot be fun either. I would imagine a custon driveshaft would have to be made as well.

I would like to know honestly how much a LS-1 swap costs. That one that was posted in the GD section was selling for how much?? Over 20K. So it does not seem like this swap is cheap.

Leetheslacker 09-19-2003 03:48 PM

All im gonna say is, your gonna swap in a v8, because you dont want to figure out whats wrong with the engine currently in the car? What happens when the v8 has a problem, swap in another motor?

It's cool, i guess you do what you have to do. I mean we're still here for the same reason, to go faster and eat some rice https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

and i agree with you, i wouldn't mind trading in a high revving engine for a large amount of torque.

BrandonDrecksage 09-20-2003 01:36 AM

well, yeah, i want to put in a v-8 not because i don't know what is rong with my car, i want to do it because the reliablity(or what i have seen so far) does not exist with a rotary engine. not to mention, i know a lot about v-8s, like i've said before i had a f-body for my first car, did all my work my self. I don't want to do this because i don't know what is wrong with my car, i want to do it because it will make my car really fast. and to the guy abou the cost, i realize it isn't cheap, but a place makes a kit for all the stuff that needs to be fabed up, and the reason y the 3rd gen sold for 20gs is bcause it is a more valued car...also if u could tell me what is wrong with the car, i'd greatly appreciate that..cause it runs hot, but i've changed the rad, rad cap, water pump, all belts....so do u have any suggestions ?

Jims5543 09-20-2003 07:16 AM

Thermostat have you changed that?? Hopefully that was the first thing you changed.

When you change it drill a 1/8" hole in the thermostat it will help evacuate any trapped air in your system. Let the car run with the radiator cap off and keep topping it off until its at operating tempurature and full.

When air gets trapped behind the thermostat it will stay closed even when it need to be open. Its sort of like a vapor lock.

Hope that helps.

Thess Rotary engines intimidated me at first too. Once you start working on them you start realizing how simple they are. I look under the hood of my new Mini Cooper S and just scratch my head. I am glad it came with a 3 year service agreement.

BrandonDrecksage 09-20-2003 11:25 AM

yeah...i've been trought two thermostats...both mazda....right now i'm running w/o a thermostat...but car still runs hot...goin to mazda on friday...and they r gonna tell me what is wrong

FiKsE l2X SeVeN Jr 09-20-2003 12:44 PM

you think an ls6 engine would fit under an fc?

Jims5543 09-20-2003 01:15 PM

Are you using the stock fan?? Is the clutch good on it?

BrandonDrecksage 09-20-2003 02:09 PM

also replaced that..hence y i'm jsut going to mazda, tired of pouring money into it, and if i'm right, the ls6 is the intake on some vette/camaro/firebird ls1, i could be wrong though

FiKsE l2X SeVeN Jr 09-20-2003 02:38 PM

the ls6 engine is the engine for the z06 i believe

NaughtyFD 09-21-2003 08:01 AM

Yes an LS1/6 will fit in an FC and an FD. I have personlly done the FD swap ALL BY MYSELF and it honestly isnt that bad. It take s time and some patience but not real difficult.

I took a FD that was ready for the junk yard with no engine or tranny and made a great car out of it. Now I get 28 mpg when I keep my foot out of it and have a reliable 300+ rwhp and 350ftlbs of torque. I loved my FD when it was rotary but dont kill this guy because he wants to try it.

Two really good sites for info on the swap are

www.torquecentral.com which is a forum where a bunch of swaps are talked about and

www.hinsonsupercars.com which is the site of the guy that did the first LS1 FD swap that I know of.
