Just wondering if anyone knows of a FWD car modified to use a rotary engine? Would love details of the conversion if anybody knows of such a case. I have a project in mind, but would like to be told of problems I'll need to overcome, such as the obvious engine mounting and mating a FWD gearbox.

Ive seen some pictures of guys in eastern europe/russia with fwd rotary cars. They were either on this forum or the club. Maybe someone else knows who they are and can shed more light on it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

Lada make a FWD rotary, I have also seen 1 or 2 fwd gearbox's adapted to fit. To be honest though, it's a waste of time and effort.

Agreed. There is someone on this board with a Lada Rotary in Russia. There was a thread in New Member's Chat I think, and it was like 10 pages long also.

There is also a civic over in Australia with the swap done. It looks clean, but seems kind of silly to do.

I think I'll be hearing that quite a lot if this project ever gets off the ground, but I have to expect it.

In my defence, I'll be doing it for the challenge and learning experience more than anything. I'm not too keen on the idea of plug'n'play items which "instantly" adds x amounts of power. It reminds me too much of the Fast and Furious fanboys who will hand their car over to someone and say, I've got rich parents, make my car go real fast. Sorry for the rant, each to their own I guess.

Thanks for the pics as well. Does anyone have any info on that little green gem?

Also curious if anyone has any technical drawings showing general dimensions of a 13b

whys it a waste of time? First of all, not everyone wants a RWD car or can have one in their climate. Second of all, If I had to choose a extra car besides my truck for a DD, I'd get a fwd, so why not have it be rotary? I think its a badass idea, of course it wouldn't be a supa deluxe drag mobile, but if its in a light weight small car, it could be loads of fun.

Sticking a rotary in a RWD car won't be much less of a learning experience/challenging. If you really want to mate a fwd gearbox stick the whole lot over the back wheels https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png.

The advantages of FWD are confined to packaging/space costs, but don't let me put you off - if that's what you want to do then by all means do it. What are you planning to stick it in?
