Use whatever EMS your local tuner is most familiar with. If you are confident enough to tune yourself, pick the one you feel most comfortable with. Haltech, Microtech, etc. You could also use an Apexi Power FC.

For an FMIC, I would get your hands on something better suited for an FC. The FD intercoolers and pretty thick and the set up is not ideal for an FC. eBay is your friend here!! I just picked up an nice 24x12x3 XS Power FMIC from a local guy for a great price, and its pretty damn sturdy.

yeah, about local tuners, being in the NE, specifically mass, it sucks. noone really does anything, bunch of snobs, and muscle fanatics. There may be one place, my friends father owns it, but they do vw... https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/sad.gif

and waht would be an average price to set up the electronics on this, including an ecu.

A standalone can set you back anywhere from $800 for a PowerFC, to over $2000!!!

Most setups that will work well for rotaries are less than $1500. Haltech E6X, Mictrotech LT-10S, etc.

ok. now for my slew of technical questions. with the power fc handling the rew, will it handle the remains of the fc? and what do i need for that to work and hook into all the stock gauges

djmtsu 01-17-2008 08:41 PM

Now I am out! The REW we did, I only help on the engine install, intercooler, plumbing, etc. On the RE, it was basically a race car, so all gauges we aftermarket, push button starter, standalone.

Now, you can use a PowerFC on a 2nd gen, but you need to use the patch harness Banzai sells. So I wouldn't think there would be alot involved with the REW, using the FD harness.

I would wait for someone else to chime in though.

And for what its worth, I only use the stock gauges for Fuel, Voltage, Tach and Speed.

Now for your setup:

-The tach should be a non issue, simple to make it work, just like any other tach.

-Speedo will be fine since you need a TII trans and it is cable driven.

-Fuel, same deal.

-Battery voltage, should work

-Oil pressure and coolant temp I believe you only concerns, but I use Autometer for that.

Amen, I'm using all stock guages, And unfortunatly, I couldnt find a way to do this with getting the dreaded dual guage pillar pod. I've got the Oil pressure and coolant temp on that. I need to find a place to my boost guage and Turbo Timer.

If you dont have to worry about emissions... I'd recommend changing to non-sequential.

http://www.banzai-racing.com/ - You can get block off plates and the wiring adapter.

http://jappartsspecialist.com/product_info...products_id=197 - Power FC - Lowest Price I've found.

AS for the Fuel - I upgraded my fuel pump.

But then again.. you might have a budget. Things cost money. Money limits options.

well thankfully im a very race oriented builder. if it doesnt hold a good function, its out of the car. I will be autoxing this at some point, hopefully upcoming season will be spent tuning and testing. so i am def going for the fuel pump along with it

Muscle&Tuner 01-18-2008 03:06 PM
