i have a 1st gen gsl with a 12a and want to swap in a second gen 13b 6 port in it.i have a holley carb and a jay-tec intake.besides the front cover,oil pan and oil pic up tube what else would i need?would i need to change the tranny?

IIRC it would bolt up fine, however the 13b tranny is a little beafier then 12a tranny.

 

yeah ive been lookin into somethin like this also. will a 13b tranny bolt up to a '85

 

i'm curious as well since my 85 with a 12a's trans is on it's last leg.........

 

it will work just fine my son car had a 12a and i replace it with a 13b 6port

and my race car i have a TII engine with a 12a tranny. but now ill be pulling my ported engine out and im droping in a 93 engine in with a TII tranny and a haltec to run it

hey, so i bought an 85 RX-7 with no engine for cheap,

and wanting to turn this car into a drifter what are the possible engine selections i have to choose from that are straight drop in, or close to it with a few little mods?

 

the 12a or 13b i believe both drop straight in, but if you go for a 13b you'll have to run your own harnesses and make sure you have the correct ecu to match the engine.

 

what about the other makes and models of engines, like 1jz-gte or like Rb20's or like ford 302's what other engines can i drop into an rx7
