If I buy a Haltech, can I set it up to run my TII, then next year, pull it off and hook it up to a fuel injected V-8?



I'm pretty sure with a Microtech, the factory would need to flash the EPROM or something, so it's not a DIY. What about with the Haltech? DIY or not?

You certainly can do that with the Haltech. Not a problem there. That is personally my selling point there, for the Haltech.

I had my haltech installed on my RX7 and then installed on a nissan 240sx with a sr20det motor........I sold that now I am installing the Haltech back on another RX7.

Do you do your own tuning? How hard is it to get an initial map such that your car will run right after the install?

if you have a wideband its a lot faster. but in any case once you've used the e6k for a little while, its pretty easy. it is time consuming though

Time consuming, eh? Are we talking hours? Or days? Assuming that the Haltech is already installed.

Not taking into consideration the installation time..................Tuning can take alot of time. Hours, Days, Weeks it all depends on how fast you learn and how much you want to understand. Basically it requires you understanding the motor you are dealing with and the means for manupilating it.

Sometimes it borders on frustrating, but in the end you gain a greater level of knowledge and understanding of what you are dealing with, be it rotary or piston.



Personally "plug 'n' play" are for woosies. I like to know how things operate and why they do, no wonder the wife loves me the way she does.

some of the temprature compensation maps need almost a change of season to get right. plus theres hot and cold starting. if you really know what you're doing 45minutes will get it idling and cruising. to fine tune it takes longer, 4-8hours.



since reality intervienes and you get tired, i usually go and spend 45minutes- 1 hour attacking a part of the map, ie transition into boost, cruise, off idle etc

Does the Haltech software have a provision for "building" maps, or do you have to enter each data point individually?

you can sorta build maps. pick 2 points and you can have it linearize between them this is useful to get it close, quickly
