Ok...well I just bought a Microtech LT8 and I am in the middle of removing my old harness and all the other unecessary crap that goes with it. I am brand new to the FC world....so if I seem kind of ignorant....well, I am.

To get the ECU harness off it goes below those 3 solenoids under the TB....how do I get that metal bracket of **** off my car so I can remove the harness? I have the wiring harness removed damn near everywhere else..but to remove that metal bracket thing with all those pipes, I have to remove alot of fuel and air lines, as well as one oil line it appears. Is that the only way?

Also...since I am going with a stand alone, what all stuff do I not need to re-install? I have a BOP kit coming so I can remove my ACV, Air Pump, BAC, Spilt Air Pipe, and the OMP. I am also getting rid of the MAS and MAP sensor correct? Is the coolant bypass mod the same on the S5 as it is on my FD? I am also replacing all my vacumn lines with new silicone lines and swapping out all my old coolant/fuel lines with new ones. I want to do everything right the first time so I don't have to go under here again...because it sucks!!! That UIM/TB is a bitch to get off. You can't get your hand behind the manifold to get off those vacumn lines very easily and that stupid cruise control line won't come off either. So my UIM/TB is still in the car just sitting on top of the cruise control module since I couldn't get that cable to let go.

Any info, tips, mods, etc...that you think I should do while I am under here, please let me know.

Thanks,

Scott

Also, I am installing a DP/MP so I will no longer have any CATS in case some of you were worried about me removing the air pump.

Lane you need to remove the uim.. as what you need its not much...like the fd most of the lines are for smog and running the turbo and unnessary stuff. you really only need vac for the fuel system and and for boost. basically just take the spider nest and anything attached to it and chuck it over your shoulder...stand alone don't need much to make engine run.. you really need cas., map (for boost), coolant, air temp, and tps. I don't plan on using much more than that.

Check up in the FAQ, I believe there is a thread with pictures on removing the rats nest of solenoids.

You need an oxygen sensor. I got mine with the optional wide-band sensor setup. Hopefully it should be here soon

Well I read the FAQ and about everything else I could....but what do I do about that oil line that is part of the metal bracket (rat's nest)? I could remove the bracket right now....except I am trying to not have to unhook that oil line...is that possible?

Thanks,

Scott

Ok...I got the Rat's Nest off....now I am trying to get the OMP and the clutch fan off. That OMP is way way down there....I better read up on how to remove it because that looks like a bitch to get off of there.

The OMP shouldn't be to bad. It's got a kinda blind bolt in the upper left corner if you were looking straight at it. I believe it's 10mm bolts and it's just a matter of a light & mirror and I was able to locate and remove it.

The LT8 isn't to difficult of an install once you get the vacuum rack out of the car. Just plug the nipples that aren't needed. The Oil line for the Turbo is seperate from the rest of the vacuum rack. It's basically two pieces so no worries there once you get it removed. You can use the stock O2 sensor from the TII I'd suggest to go and get a new one from a parts store. They sell a universal one it's like 20 some bucks I believe.

If you need any help just message me on ICQ/AIM/MSN 315621/jagsnag/jagsnag@hotmail.com

My install went really good just make sure to pay attention to the wiring diagram they supply and match the colors up and it should be no problem at all!

Lucky me...I bought Vosko's and it is already wired up for an S5. My oil line seems to be part of the rat's nest bracket....not two pieces like you say. I will check again and see if it is just stuck...but I think it is braised(sp) on there.
