Just got back from Phoenix and had Steve Kan tune the Haltech. Its running soo much smoother now, and just blows the tires away after 4k RPM.

My setup:

E6K

Ported S5 block

T04E, 60 trim

550/1600s w/ Walbro 255 and Aeromotive FPR

The day did NOT exactly go great for me right from the get-go. Right away, it seemed as if the secondaries were not responding the way they should. The car was running really lean when the 1600's kicked in and we couldnt figure out why. So I sucked it up, called the local Ford dealer and picked up a brand new set of 1600's for list price. And guess what? Everything was great! The 1600's that ive had in my car for 4+ years are either defective or mislabled! What luck!!!

After getting it back on the rollers, we were still having problems at higher RPM, this time it was pressure drop. We stopped, I quickly re-wired my fuel pump on the rollers and that dramatically helped the pressure drop problems. Still, after 7k RPM, the fuel pump can't keep up. So, after each run we lifted after 7k.

After the final run, it made 389 at 12psi of boost. From the curve, you can see it makes gobs of power down low, and after 5k RPM the turbo cannot hold the psi. The dip in the curve is the turbo going from 15psi down to 12psi. 275 HP at 4,500 RPM is really impressive for me and it the car has some serious grunt down low.

Analysis:

Need a bigger compressor and more fuel. Now I just need to decide whether or not to run dual walbros or a bigger single pump.

vosko 03-18-2006 11:04 PM

buy my old FD fuel system! SX external pump and ss braided lines! you need it!

Rob x-7 03-19-2006 09:54 AM

nice numbers seth, is the car pretty streetable?

how much for that fuel system vosko?

vosko 03-19-2006 11:02 AM

i will let it go cheap but i spent like $2k on it and everything only has like 5k miles on it

Rob x-7 03-19-2006 11:10 AM

whats included in it?

vosko 03-19-2006 11:26 AM

sx fuel pump, weldon filter, fd tank with sump, ss braided lines from tank to engine bay, all ss an fittings

teknics 03-19-2006 12:54 PM

if you dont go with vosko's setup, pm me and i can give you a list of pretty much everything you need to make a great fuel system to handle more HP then you'll probably be pushing.

my setup is dual walbros, dual BG 100 micron -8AN filters, SuperNow! Rails, Aeromotive FPR, and a -6 return. all Earl's Fittings and lines etc. I went with only -6 at the rails for now, which should handle at least 700hp, so I've been told, possibly more. You could do it cheaply with using summit line and fittings probably more then half the price of my all earl's setup (the line alone cost $300, the fittings cost a ton too)

only problem is finding good fc rails other then stock....but i think keith makes FC kg rails which would work. mine are JDM madness, go SuperNOW! haha.

but nice runs, your car has it all.

also, what FPR are you currently running? stock? if so you could try just swapping in an aftermarket one first and see how that goes. of course you might as well just do the whole system in one shot, its faster. and prettier.

thats shedtastic

congrats, its a schmaltz!

Looks like a very nice torque curve for a street car, I bet that car is some serious fun.

good call, last time you changed the fuel filter? completely overlooked that lol.

389 at 12 psi seems like a lot of power for a t04e 60 trim https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png

z-beater 03-20-2006 07:15 PM

Wow, great numbers I like the spoiler.

Seth are you running a nice big turbine a/r.....?

115 hot side. Steve said the hot side was too big, and the compressor size was too small.

j200pruf 03-22-2006 06:55 PM

Big port job seth? I thought that a T04E 60 should have plenty of breath for 15psi all the way to 8,000RPM+ ??

yah, its a big street port. The motor has always been really strong ever since we dropped it in.

1 FPR or 2 ?

only 1 FPR. its a basic parallel line setup, just extended all the way to the tank.

kevin.

Rob x-7 03-23-2006 06:06 PM

someone else told me I would need to run 2 FPR to use the KG rails?

Rob,

The aeromotive FPR I bought has 2 inlets, so you can control the fuel pressure for 2 different rails. For my setup, one of the inlets is capped, but I wanted to run the system in parallel I could.

Rob x-7 03-23-2006 08:03 PM

do you run stock fuel rails?

Node 03-31-2006 12:10 AM

Did he explain why?

Was your w/g NOT dumping at any part of the run after positive pressure?

WallyHojo 05-31-2006 11:53 AM

I have a kgparts secondary rail for sale if anyone needs it? I don't plan on using 1600 cc's. PM me if interested.

Nice numbers btw. I hope to make 340-50 hp soon at 14psi I only have a bnr stage3 :(

TweakGames 04-29-2008 11:43 PM

Sorry to bring this back from the dead. I was wondering if you ever sold the car? Did you fix the problem where it would go from 15 psi to 12 or is 12 psi all the turbo can push?

Thanks

~Tweak
