We decided to take her off the the dyno and screw with her on the street. Cam made a real fast and dirty MBC and we had her running at 1 bar rock solid on the street. That dispelled any suspisions we had of the wastegate being the culprit. We suspected that the wastegate shaft was galling and that was not the case.

When we hooked the Profec B back up all hell broke loose again. It would spike to 1.2-1.3 bar at 5K RPM then drop to 0.7 bar at 7K RPM it was all over the place.

Sorry no pics or Video we were kind of busy.

what was your air fuel target range ..

Jims5543 01-29-2004 09:30 AM

We want to see mid to high 12's on the a/f. we were seeing mid to high 13's and we both are not happy w/ it.

We are going to hook a fuel pressure guage up and see whats going on. If it is falling off, new fuel pump and a FPR.

is it across the board, or does it lean out after a certain rpm? cym's car does the same thing, the injectors go 100% and it starts to lean out over 6k. its too bad too cause thats where everythign starts to flow.

Aren't 12's a little on the lean side for a target though? 11:5:1 was always what I shot for, plenty safe but not rich either.

i prefer not to venture above low 12s..

takin into consideration seasonal temp changes and creep for me..

me and mazda agree with you. theroretically theres a correction map for that, but i like my motor where it is, in the car. mazda just runs 10:1 under boost

Typically 12:1 is for optimal peformance that is one the edge. Should be fine, but then again wouldn't take much to detonate.
