How can a dyno accuratly measure the HP of turbo car with a intercooler?

How does one simulate the air flow over/thru the intercooler on a wheel dyno? Especailly a FMIC.

Aint no way a fan or some **** is going to do it, so how do you tune the car and calculate hp??

thats always a problem, all you can really hope for is that the air temps stay down

or you can buy your own wideband like me and do a 4th gear pull and datalog the haltech and wideband and then pull over and read the maps and tune it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

so really if you dyno lets say 300 hp, you probably are making a bit more underway

Ill read that link tomoroww when I have more time, thanks Mike

making more power off the dyno is not an absolute, you could have a misdesigned intake that didn't work at high speeds.

your mixtures will also be slightly different on and off the dyno, so its best to be a little rich on the dyno.

tuning the car is one of those, the more you learn the less you know things, it can be a puzzle

Big fan or something in front of the car blowing cool air in on it? I saw one once, looked like the things that inflated the bouncy palace things.

You still havent gotten your car running 100% yet right?

j9fd3s 12-12-2002 05:02 PM

haha, what tipped you off? i need to go back to the dyno and retune it, we are kinda wiating for the outside temps to drop

I remember a while back you got 200hp or something, then not hearing anything more about it.

I was hoping for some better news.

j9fd3s 12-12-2002 06:15 PM

You *****,lol, I drove my Cutlass with no heater in the winter, the heat from the full length Hooker Super Comp headers were more then enough, Im sure that 20b puts out enough heat for 55 degree weather over there.

yah, well we are waiting to get cold so we can dyno, cooler = better
