I know it is still a very long time but this section of the forum is dead anyways.

I WILL NOT SPEND TIME AND MONEY SETTING UP ANTHER MEET!

every year, my wife and I would run the route, plan it, write it, spend about 2 full tanks of gas etc....

Last year mazdabation was kind enough to help.

So this year if any of you are expecting another meet, I hope someone would step up and host it.

For me and some of the local guys, we drive these roads mostly late at night and early mornings. So for us there is really nothing special. On the other hand, the out of towners do look forward to driving the route every year and the fact that it does change yearly.

So let's hear it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...O_DIR#>/11.gif

I WAS PLANNING A MEET IN MY AREA ON JULY 8TH WEEKEND

I HAD A GREAT TIME LAST YEAR, BUT THE GETTING LOST AND STUPIDITY OF HIGH SPEEDS WAS REDICULOUS. SO UNLESS THAT CHANGES I WILL NOT BE RETURNING.

Mazdabation 02-18-2005 02:33 AM

And do you think the ridiculous speeds and people getting lost wont happen at your meet??

You cant make people happy, if your meet is slow and unorganized people will bitch it was borring, if people are fast, the rest will bitch it was out of hand!!

do something with your lights when we do a nigth run.

the talk around here is doing early morning runs and do breakfast right after. Sounds good to me https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

Mazdabation 02-18-2005 11:52 AM

In all honesty Rich, I dont really believe/want to do night runs. With all the candle power you can get your still not gonna see that deer etc run out in front of you. We all know there is tons of wildlife on the escarpment.

Now as for the day run and breaky, im in. Been doing that for years on sundays with the bike, was an annual sunday thing. Start the roads around 10 and have brunch after.......

Shawn it just people hot dogging it, sure you may have a fast car awesome! but 200km/s plus is dumb when travelling with a group of people...

This being said, for our meet there will be at least 3 guys that know the route, on leading doing 120 max, one in the middle and one at the end. just to try and keep people together, not to mention the week end it was on was a bad choice, being a long weekend and all.

I am not blaming you guys at all it was an awesome meet, i had a great time for sure, and i am looking forward to another meet.

the night run idea would be cool i think, most of us have loud ass cars and deer stay tyhte hell away, i have found this out first hand in the beater and the rx7, but people driving highspeeds+turns+darks= some ones gonna get hurt.

wolfgang 02-19-2005 01:07 AM

If you had one, I would go. it's not too far from albany...

nismo convert 02-20-2005 01:44 AM

I'm trying to get moved out onto the peninsula. Know of any openings for a mechanical engineer? If I'm out there, I'd love to help out/plan. So, find me a job in St. Kitts/the falls, and I'll do it.

nismo convert 02-21-2005 02:31 PM

yeah i would also love to help out find me a job as an apprentice millwright and we have a deal, oh and i'll need a place to live https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Cheers! 02-21-2005 05:05 PM

Last i heard Bruce Power was hiring. They have dreams of replacing the boiler for the unit 1 reactor for Bruce A nuclear. That involves demolishing 1/2 a building breaching "containment" and removing the old boiler, re-installing a new one and making a new containment building.

nismo convert 02-21-2005 05:17 PM

Yeah Bruce Power isn't hiring, trust me, stupid ignorant bastards are screwed in 5 years, i want to kill them

Feds 02-22-2005 07:02 AM

Cheers, have you ever been outside of Kingston? Do you know where "Bruce" is? Do you know where Niagara is? Alright then... lol.

I'm working on applying to OPG, but at Sir Adam Beck, but the goddam application is 8 pages long! Also, I need to dig out my contacts at John Deere, worked there for co-op. Other than that, I've answered a lot of workopolis and monster ads, and sent resumes to 4-5 little consulting firms.

Am I to assume that you are a techi? or Bsc?

Applying through workopolis is tricky as most of them are agencies collecting resumes. If you want to stay in auto inustry, keep in mind that GM will pour in $$$ into Oshawa, windsor and St. Catharines. So apply in their website.

BASc, Mechanical Engineering. I'm actually working in Oshawa for the general. I've been trying to transfer to St. Catherines Engine, but my HR Dept. doesn't seem to want to make the effort. I'm kind of tossed up on the whole auto industry thing. I'm not really learning much, so I am just seeing what else is out there. I've found some neat companies in the area that I've sent resume's to, but the volume of jobs in St. Catharines is 1/10th what it is in TO/Mississauga.

I've also been thinking about Niagara College. There is some potential that I could get a teaching position there, but I may need to get a Masters before that possibility opens up.

Some don't even have Peng. They hire them base on their experience. Go and ask. (college)

Word has it that powertrain will have lots of retirees. So just keep trying and once your'e in come and get me away from DANA. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683329.gif

Also I do agree with your findings as I am trying to get out here. TO and south west seems to be the hotspot for automotive.
