A co-worker is leaving today for AECL sheridan campus.

Seems like a sweet place to work, it's back in my home town so I can live at home again, money seems great, and you get to travel with them.

Don't be so quick to praise nuclear.

Just remember the grass is always greener on the other side. I worked for Ontario Power Generation, RCM technologies (contract to Bruce Power), and Nuclear Safety Solutions Limited. I had regular dealings and meetings with AECL.

Now I work in Aerospace.

Same **** different pile.

Maybe only 5% of the population of earth gets to turn their hobbies into work. Those are the people I truely envy. Loving your job must be the coolest thing in the world.

Man anything is better then what I do now. and this means i can move home and live for free, I am going to praise the hell out of it. And as long as i am doing something that requires me to use my hands and not be incharge of 15yo kids I am happy.

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683785.gif so true, after all the crapola of changing jobs, possibly moving and everything involved with that, you still get to wake up and deal with the same crap in a different setting.

With me this would not be the case, there will be no 15yo's telling me how to do stuff, and so on, it would be really refreshing. I hope the saying "no news it good news" is true.

Well, Got an email back, seems asthough if they decide to retube Bruce "A" I will be working there, now to fight the government.

Cheers! 09-26-2005 12:06 PM

Didn't the govt just commit tens of millions such that ontario would be one of the leaders in teh world for renewable energy.

So much BS. I wonder why the govt never asks the question, so how many wind turbines do I need to equal one nuclear power plant with 4 new reactors. Or for that matter how many turbines = 1 reactor. You would need a wind farm the size of all of northern ontario and windy 90+% out of the 365 days of the year for you to make renewable energy. We need backbone utility support, not fancy hi tech low output technologies. All the existing nukes are old and will be moth balled for good in 10 years. Coal plants are no no. So without nukes and without coal you lose over 60% of your capacity. There are only so many more rivers you can damn up, and with those all the good ones are already damned up. The rest of crap.

nismo convert 09-26-2005 01:02 PM

Thats is exactly what I have been saying, California still has brown outs and they have something like 1.5 million wind turbines, such a waste of money, they will have no choice but to retube Bruce "A" just a matter of when, i have heard froma few sources that a decision is close.

Aren't they replacing the boiler too?

nismo convert 09-26-2005 01:37 PM

Yeah, everything needs to be replaced, the windings, the bpoilers all the tubes, EVERYTHING. not going to be cheap.
