How in the hell do you know when your differential has gone bad? Short of pulling it apart.

when your rear end starts "thumping" and jerking sidways.. then your in very big trouble.. you'll probably have about another 100 feet before you blow gears out of your pumpkin.. I think i still have a piece of my old diff still...

 

When you put it into gear and start moving, it doesn't go straight
