i just saw an auction on ebay for supposed 13,000 mile guage cluster. I was just wondering? Where is the mileage stored? in the speedometer? or in the ECU?

Ferderal law mandates that all speedometer must have as tamper resitant storing device located inside the device. So it should be cool man. when they went digital it made it a lot harder for the average joe to tamper with it. Encoded flash memory and stuff......

Soooo..... if you put the 13,000 mi gauge cluster in your car, your car now has 13,000??

Except for that pesky title that says 42,000 .

Wish there was a way to have 2 odometers....

One to track the miles TOTAL, and one to track mileage PER REBUILD.

It's a felony to tamper. They will impound you car and sell it. if they catch you. Just to warn you

thanks, thats what i wanted to know. Its not for me, I don't even have an FD. I was just wondering why people were bidding it up. I'm sure there will be a 13,000 mile FD for sale soon.

I actually am the top bidder for that cluster. I would reset it if I knew how every rebuild. I never plan on selling the car anyway so how does the government feel justified for concerning itself with what I do to my personal property?

Damn those Democrats!!
