Not sure when it happened, but it seems that all the gas stations near me in Idaho have switched from 92 octane supreme to 91 octane. I know it's only one point of difference, but it's still enough to **** a good man off. As if it wasn't bad enough paying nearly the highest price per gallon nation wide, we're now stuck with less octane.

While I'm venting, might as well ask a related question...what's the current consensus on the 90% gasolene, 10% ethanol fuels out there? One station down the road from me has it, and it's at least a slightly higher octane, but not sure I really trust it. I seem to remember from long ago that ethanol mix fuels and the rotary didn't play well together.

Thanks!

Travis

the octane changed to lower the price for the UPPER level gas buyers, to try and stipend the bleeding of the economy and the higher $'s..

why would octane be lower in california? doesn't a higher octane gas burn cleaner? or is that a myth? here in calgary pretty much all supreme is 92 a few companies sell 93. a couple of station i believe sell 96.

It's 91 octane in CA because it's "oxygenated" which is supposed to reduce emmissions in some cars. However, that is debatable.

Basically CA just plain sucks for auto owner... except that lack of rust in So Cal maybe...

If it wasn't for the boost creep issue you can run on Aviation Gas. My friend does in a turbo BMW M5. Does great. About $3 a gallon which is hardly more than our current $2.20 a gallon price here now for 91 octane.

Oh... I meant if it wasn't for that boost creep issue when you remove your cat so that you CAN run on leaded Aviation Fuel. Not to meantion the smog laws...
