most people go 3mm because a.) bigger is better (see freud for explanation) b.) their rotors were trashed and it was the low cost (snicker) option

a worn rotor will not fit 2mm seals anymore, so they make the groove wider and fit 3mm seals....... cheaper than buying new rotors and new seals

turbo magazine did a whole 3 part tech article for rotories and the second part was on seals. they put so much info in it that it actually confused me more than what i though i already knew. thats why i asked the question. i talked to the guys at kd about it and they said go with 2mm unless i decide to go single.

You can run as much boost as you want on 2mm seals with any turbo!!!! It is all in the tuning, car have run 20 plus on stock apex seals.

Ok Ok, so if you are planning in the future to go single turbo, with other mods obviously.. What is the safest, (Not cheapest, cost doesn't matter on this subject..), most reliable detonation-free method of going?? What ECUs are best for this? (Since I have heard that the ECU you decide to choose will make or break your FD). Please go all out, what are the choice mods, if you had unlimited funds so to speak that you would install to prevent apex seal destruction?

The best ecu to buy is the one that has the most support in your area. Money always an issue! There are to many option of build the ultimate FD, do some research and decided how you want YOUR FD To be. But tuning is the key, you can spend all the money on motor exc.... but shitty tuning will blow up the best build motor.
