What Springs should i use to get rid of some of the wheel gap on my r-1 without having to worry about the front fenders hitting the tires. I will be using 17x8 17x9 wheels with 225/45ZR17 tires in the front and 245/40ZR17 in the rear (dont ask why so thin, i had these on a 240sx and the tires are almos new, so im not going wider yet hehe) i think the offset of the wheels is like +27 front +35 rear. I have been considering the Eibach Pro-Kit, or maybe the Eibach Sportline springs. Keep in mind that i will be keeping the stock shocks for now. Just a word, I have 45's on the front also. I have stock springs and Koni shocks. When I asked the guys at Tri-Point about my fenders rubbing the wheels they said it was one or both of two things: 1) The location of the spring perch on the shock. I haven't checked that yet. 2) The 45 sidewall is high for a FD. They say 40 is better. Since I haven't checked out many sidewalls lately I have to take their word for it. Hope that helps.

on my old car i had totally stock suspension with 17x8 on the front 17x10 on the rear. front tires were 235/45R17 and they bent my fenders some and chipped a little paint. But i was also told that the offset on the wheels is way off for the front which i believe is +27, i dont really know how to tell the offset on the wheel, on the back it says "ET 27" and 17x8JJ and thats it for numbers oh and "01/06" (as in 01 over 06) so yeah thats the fronts the rears say all the same except "ET 35" so i dunno https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub..._DIR#>/dry.png

well.. as for now i only want to buy springs, becuase in about a year or so i will upgrade to Tien Coilovers, i hate riding high, but i dont want to spend a bunch of money on suspension right now, just something to kill the wheel gap without messin up my fenders. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/mellow.png

We import the KG/mm line of suspension. I have not used a set on the FD yet, but we get rave reviews from the S2000 crowd. They utilize two different spring rates, a softer one for smooth and comfortable ride/smaller bumps, and a stiffer spring rate for when the primary springs are beyond handling capacity. The same concept is used a lot in coilovers, where you have a smaller "helper" spring that compresses flat when the load rate is exceeded, and allows the stiffer secondary spring to come into play. This gives the best of both worlds, a smooth ride and increased spring rates to aid in hard cornering.

Also available in Sport (-15mm lowering, softer) and Racing-(40mm lowering, stiffer). |
I am running 225's with 8" +33 F & 255's on 9" +35 R. I had to raise from a 2" or two finger gap to a 2.5" or 2&1/2 fingers gap because the front fender was pulled within a few hours of driving my new whhels. Now I will have to roll at least the front fenders. ...I don't think +27 will work.
The 225/45-17 is the same diameter as the stock wheel. I don't know why Tri-Point would say they are taller unless he was thinking of 245/45-17's. |
