[quote name='Sinful7' date='Mar 16 2005, 12:02 PM']I run synthetic ... Some of the significant bonuses are a higher temperature tolerance and a stronger resistance to film shear. Film shear is the point at which the basic coating of oil molecules are torn from the surfaces they cover - the resistance means less chance of engine seizure due oil system failure.

And hopefully more resistance despite some fuel dilution, which I suffer from alittle between oil changes.

Thumbs up

I am looking at moving to synthetic. Is 10-60 to wide? I'm thinking it is but it's what someone I know is running and they say it's fine.

[quote name='boostincoyote' date='Mar 14 2005, 02:19 PM']hey guys im new and was just wondering what oil is preferred among TT 13bs. Ex. synthetic, non-synthetic, what oil weight according to mileage ex 15w50 and brand mobil, motul, castrol etc. thanx i appreciate as many responses as possible

The responses have been interesting, but not really useful. I have used the cheapest oil I could find (10-30) and I got 118,000 miles (original clutch as well) out of my wife's '94 before one of the rear apex seals let go.

It would be more informative to also list the mileage you guys have gotten out of the 'super wombat' oils that you are recommending.

Obviously, I am biased towards cheap stuff, but I try to change the oil between 2,000 and 3,000 miles.

I got the engine was rebuilt byKD Rotary when they were in Nazareth, PA.

'95 Volvo 850 201,000 (My driver)
