just like sinful7 said above its best to run an oil with a closer operating range...its working good...but nothing noticably different from regular oil..synthetic holds better at high temps than regular so thats why i went with synthetic

Thumbs up

I use Castrol GTX 10w-30 changed every 3000km.

For those that are using synthetic, is this with premix and no OMP?

[quote name='rx7dv8' date='Mar 14 2005, 02:49 PM']Mobil 1 non-synthectic. I change it about every 2000 miles.

Mobile1 is synthetic, do you mean Mobil0?

I run Mobile1 or Royal Purple 10w30. OMP is still operational and I do not premix.

Been doing this for 3 years or about 40k miles so far. With the temperature extremes here in Phoenix I definately prefer the durability of synthetics, especially with a couple turbos under the hood.

Also still using OMP, but I add ~ 4 oz. of MMO to a full tank of gas.

I run synthetic on the OMP with no premix. Works great for me.

To expand on what rx7girltk was saying, synthetic oil has a more consistent molecular structure, because it's engineered to be that way. Some of the significant bonuses are a higher temperature tolerance and a stronger resistance to film shear. Film shear is the point at which the basic coating of oil molecules are torn from the surfaces they cover - the resistance means less chance of engine seizure due oil system failure.

I was using 10W30 castrol dino juice (every2000k) and premixing w/ omp. Now that Im non-seq and no omp Im moving to Mobil 1 0W40 changing every 3000mi, sooner if treat her rough for some reason.
