For some damn reason I have not been able to clear the engine code. I checked the codes again today, code 5 (knock sensor) as usual and I disconnect the neg. battery cable for 20+ seconds and hit the brake (to drain the rest of the current) I tried 10 times and the freaking thing is still storing the codes. I have no clue why

The next issue I'm having with the engine light is that it is BLINKING when i turn the steering wheel, yes i said it blinks when i turn the steering wheel. I can have the wheel in a fixed positon and the CEL just glows at me, but when i turn it a little bit, it starts flickering. I checked for any shorting near the steering column and there are 0 wires hanging around in the area that would be touching it.

The freaking auto tranny still will not shift into 4gr/OD....so to you 94 RX7.........i say

did you rub your wiring harness at any point? seems like an electrical problem to me more so than a mechanical one. Check over your whole engine wiring harness and look for exposed wires and follow the knock sensor wire (knock sensor is under the throttle arm near the oil dipstick) and just make sure that wire isn't exposed at all anywhere as well.

As for your auto problem, 5 spd swap.
