What do you think of this car:

94 White FD 202,000 miles

here is what the guy told me when i wrote him an e-mail:

KEVIN, THIS CAR IS BEAUTIFUL. IT WAS MAINTAINED BY PRINCETON MAZDA. IF THE ODOMETER DIDN'T READ 202,000 YOU WOULD THINK IT HAD 50,000 ON IT. [info in regards to my truck] WHEN CAN YOU COME IN AND TEST DRIVE THE CAR? [info in regards to my truck] PLEASE CALL ME SO WE CAN DISCUSS A MEET TIME.

I'm writing a response to him at the moment and I'm going to ask mainly about the engine and turbos to see when they were replaced because i'm doubting someone has 202,000 miles on original equipment .

Also how do you guys like the white fd's? It seems there aren't many out there and i dunno it sort of catches my eye, plus it has nice black leather interior so i wouldnt have to convert from tan->black like i would if i had gotten the red one i was looking at/still am looking at?

Also unlike the other one i'm looking at this one hasn't been crashed, i scanned the VIN and it comes out clean.

So help me out what do you guys think? I'll be giving him my 99 Durango which has a edmunds.com value of more then 13,995, i think it was like 15,000 last i checked or something. I figure he can give me like 14,500 for my truck and maybe i can get him down to like 12,000 on the rx7, but would any dealer give me money to take their car? it sounds wrong to me and everyone i talk to .

help me out boys! and few girls!

Sounds good. Most dealers won't give you money for your vehicle. Just check the motor and turbos.

yea i asked about the motor and turbos and if i do go down there i'll ask if i can check compression and boost, or i'll ask for like a 30-day warranty so i can test it at home. I just wrote the guy like a novel about my car, i know it's a long shot but i've been hoping to get rid of the truck for more then what ill spend on the car so i can have some mod/bills money left over, ya know?

Also just something i figured I'd mention, didn't these cars come stock with a strut tower brace becaus ein that engine pic there isn't one. I don't know something in the engine bay just looks "not normal" to me, but it could just be me

R models (R1 in 93 and R2 in 94,95) have the front strut tower braces.

I think that's a pretty steep price for a 3rd gen with 200,000+ miles. hell, that's pretty steep for an FD with more than 130,000 miles IMO.

if you like the car and it's running good, then i don't see any reason why you shouldn't get it. but i would try and talk the price down as much as you can.

good luck :bigthumg:

Im not sure if you do but im assuming you have 3rd gen why would you say thats to much for that car,Hell you should be extatic that that car has that kinda price tag on it. If people keep giving these cars away they will be no better to have than a 2nd gen.............We have to keep the prices up so when it comes time to get rid of ours we can get some of the moey back we put into them....Usually the people that think the prices are to hugh are the people that cant afford them...............Every time i see a high number on one of these cars it makes me feel better about mine and the money i out into it.......If the prices keep dropping on these cars every stroke out there will have one and they will be no different than a honda............I like my rx7 and wanted one for years the fact of the matter idiots keep buying them running them into the ground and cant afford to fix them and its nocking the 3rd gen rx7 market way down. Hell ever where you look you can find a 3rd gen for sale right around 80,000 miles and we all know why they are getting rid off them cant afford to fix them............So alls i have to say lets keep those numbers up so are cars keep the super car status they deserve..................................

That's a beautiful car. I have a white '94 just like it. As far as price, why do people allways go by what a '93 is worth? The milage is double what it should be but it's still a '94 and not a '93! Milage could be the least of the problems and you could get a loan for a higher amount, yes since it's a '94 and rebuild the engine. The problem with older cars isn't the milage, it's accidents. Hidden damage that can cost you afterwards (rattles, bondo, pulling, tweaked frame, etc.). An engine rebuild is pretty strait forward and no hidden surprises.

Its not always...about what we as fans of the 7 would pay for the car. Its what its worth as a car!! Why should he pay 13,000 if he could get another 94 off a internet site with less then half the millage for the same price. Why does that guy deserv that money if he drove it so much when others pay similar prices for cars with less wear and tear on it. Every car has an experation date. And sports cars especially. He should try to talk the guy way down on that price.

i shall be talking the price down as far as possible depending on the engine, if it was replaced 2,000 miles ago i dont have much to bitch about, ya know? But from what I see the interior is clean, the exterior seems a bit 'faded' but maybe just dirty. I mean i look at the engine bay (the one pic of it) and it seems clean leading me to believe it must've been replaced within 10,000 miles. Of course they could've just detailed the engine bay but im just going by what i 'think' about it, i havent conversed with him about the details on the car as of yet.

personally if he tells me it's 13,500 and won't budge i will probably leave and not purchase the thing. Mainly because the HIGHEST i expect to get for my truck is 14,500 with the realm of reality setting in and i will probably receive a tad under 14,000 due to the previous owner's incompetence and cigarette burns (*******, ahem).

I'm talking to this guy with the expectation of getting it down to about 12,000-12,500 before taxes etc. I've negotiated car prices before, and I'll be bringing along a friend who is like the god of negotiations to get it down farther as well.

If all else fails i still have a red FD that was crashed but repaired for about 10,900 witha headlight conversion on it, but then i'll be spending quite a bit to get the black interior i want.

right now there's a lot of variables in there air, i'm trying to take each one down individually. THe best part is carfax.com has 0 records on this car meaning no accidents or anything which is great in my mind. I am a BIT worried that a dealer took care of it though

Sometimes peope put a high price on thier car to make the buyer think that it is in good condition just because the price is high. I would definatly beg a member of the site who knows alot about these cars to go with you and check it out. OR a good idea would be to force the guy to buy you a warrenty from a online broker(Autowarrentybroker is a good one) THat way if something does break down it is covered.
