Went to dallas on wednesday with a friend, viper1308 on the forums but doesnt get on much, to have his 93 dynoed and tuned by Steve after we changed the clogged fuel filter. We got there and the best dyno run was 351hp (the first run before steve played a little was like 303). Anyway, this was a very low number bc the car has got (or had at the time) these mods: bnr stage 2s non sequnetial, steve kan sp, large fmic, power fc, wahlbro or whatever 255, mp, bonez high flow cat, jic ti catback, and maybe some other things that im forgetting.

So steve blames the low dyno numbers on the high flow cat which was 3 or 4 years old, bad gas, and bad plugs. We went back to gotham and luckily they had a midpipe in stock, so we picked that up. Last night we changed the plugs, which were very very fouled and then installed the midpipe. After putting that on we started talking about being able to remove the air pump and when we went to check it out in the bay, THE AP WAS NOT THERE! I guess the cat was clogged! So after doing those things we fire it up and surprisingly its not that loud, but the sp is much more evident.

It helped a lot bc it actually hit full boost for once (1 bar), and i think that came at about 5700 to 6k. Now we just need to go back to the dyno!

p.s. could someone post a pic of an engine bay with the airpump so i can be totally sure that its not there? thanks

also, does anyone have a recommendations on how to reach full boost sooner? i think it was agentchange who said he had full (1 bar) at like 3700. he is using the bnr stage 3s, but i cant imagine there is that much difference between the two.

351rwhp may not be bad, what boost was that at? Bnr stage 2 twins can't be that huge are they?

theyre not huge, theyre the same as stock, just upgraded internals. that was probably at 1 bar or maybe a little less. i know he was tuning for 14 or 15psi so

steve seemed confused that it was that low and i think hes done a few of those turbos so he should know whats going on.

Sounds about right to me. Maybe he's lacking 20hp or so?

so you dont think the clogged cat being changed for a mp and fouled plugs being replaced would give more than 20 hp?

steve said originally that the car should be good for about 390, so hopefully it will get up there!

p.s. if you shine a flashlight through a high flow cat should you be able to see light on the other side?

If its really clogged then you could easily notice a 20hp gain going to a straight MP. Fouled plugs, depending on the definition of fouled, will make a noticable difference in power but probably more noticable in the smoothness of the powerband. Also you mentioned hitting full boost at 5700-6k rpms, thats pretty laggy. My big single came on well before that. Could be settings on his boost controller.

I don't know about the flashlight test.

hmm ok. for boost control hes using the profec b, got any tips for good settings? is there a bc built into the pfc?

i thought the boost seemed a little laggy, but being that full boost is 1 bar at this setting it didnt seem that bad. if full came sooner this car would be scary fast bc now hes only getting about 2k of usable full boost. hes also still having traction problems on the 285 yoks

You don't want to use whatever the pfc has. Kan should be able to work out the kinks in the boost controller too. I never used that kind.

Uh that's AgentSpeed, not AgentChange

I'm not sure what full boost is now but I was getting my full boost (12psi - low setting) somewhere close to 3700rpms.

Since I've changed to the mettalic cat or whatever it is... I'm about to take it off and have my magnaflow muffler cut out of my other midpipe and welded in with the cat. Hopefully I will not loose too much on the spool up.

My car has wires EVERYWHERE right now with the perminant install of my LM-1 and new wideband gauge. Hopefully I'll be able to check everything out in a few weeks and get back to you on more concrete (up to date) numbers.
