Yep, only downside to our Pettit short shifter is that we now need a new knob that can fit. I was wanting the Mazdaspeed CF one but that won't fit at all now. Any suggestions? I've looked at a bunch but find it hard to decide on just one. Something in CF, red, or black (any combination of the three) is what I'm looking for.

What's the thread pitch? Can't you make an adapter sleeve? I like the mazda Rx-8 5 spd illuminated **** knob personally.

I just decided to get a different knob anyway, I'll probably pick out a spherical one from momo in the style I like since I want something that sits pretty low.

I love my Mazdaspeed Titanium with matching e-brake handle. Be prepared to shell out some dough if you go that route... Thankfully JT hooked me up on mine.

im not sure what you like... but dont let the thread on the shifter discourage you, there are a lot of shifters out there that are universal fit that fit with screws that clamp it down rather than being screwed on

The trouble with the uni-fit ones is the set screws usually back themselves out, even if you use a shitload of loctite, nothing worse than the shift knob coming off in your hand during spirited driving.

Yeah, I had a MOMO knob with setscrews for a few months and it never came out. I noticed that the allenhead setscrews are pointed and they actually bore into the shifter for a nice tight grip.

I used to have a momo knob a long ass time ago. It was a pile of crap. The allen heads came loose all the time. Get a mazdaspeed knob you won't be sad.
