Water in the exhaust port

Jim, you`re THE MAN! Getting ready for the celebratory meal later in the week. Looking forward to it but like I said, won`t feel comfortable yet until the cat is on the car. Ordered it today so hoping I should see it by Thursday or Friday. Coming from Ohio.
Let`s see. I am trying to figure out who to put in the CD player when I take it down the road. Boston sounds good. "More than a feeling" or maybe "Cool the Engines" would be appropriate I think. "Don`t Look Back" perhaps? Aw heck! I am gonna take my WHOLE Boston collection with me & wear `em All out!
It`s the little things...........

I'm the man? Hardly. I didn't turn one wrench, just a little moral support. YOUR the one with dirty nails, skinned knuckles and...if your like me, a sore back.
As for BOSTON..............that works. Love their instrumental version of the National Anthem at full volumn. Maybe play that as your getting it up to temp and just before you pull out of the driveway....sort of like at the beginning of a ball game.
Wierd that your cat plugged, and that was a pretty good cat. I've been running a BONEZ for over 7 years now, two years without an airpump and no issues. At any rate, glad you figured it out. Simple fix if not really a cheap one.
Maybe some day we'll run into each other. You ever get up toward the Kansas City/Omaha area be sure to PM me. And congrats on the car.

Well Mr. Jim, you`re good at the moral support & advice & it was appreciated! Your humorous statements were also uplifting during this poor souls moments of trials & tribulations.
Have to agree with you on the plugged cat also. Wouldn`t think one would have a problem with a cat with a relatively low number of miles on it as it had. Did have a few times that the car wouldn`t start after sitting for a week or more & when it finally did start, smoked like it was on fire & burning. The tailpipe would also drip black junk for awhile afterwards. Could have been coolant, oil & who knows what else. I remember one time that the car wouldn`t start after having sat 4 or 5 weeks in mid winter. Cranked on the thing forever it seemed. Pulled the plugs, blew out the rotor housings, put in a little oil to give me back compression, the whole works. When it finally did start, the car vomited black goo out the bottom of the engine somewhere....still haven`t figured out to this day where it came from. All of those episodes of difficult starting may have led to the demise of my cat. All I can come up with.
It`s a small world. Wouldn`t mind hanging out with you for a few. If I ever decide to make a road trip toward the mid west, you might just hear from me. Would be fun I think!

Got the new cat on today. Took the car down the road. My opinion..........
I am really going to have to watch how I drive in this car or I am going to be arrested!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man!!! The thing flies!!!! Builds boost VERY fast & before the secondary comes in, I am usually going ummmmmmm........waaaaay faster than I should be to make a long story short! It looks like 3 months of work has paid off.
The cat I removed from the car rattled upon removal. This puzzled me. I turned it pipe side down towards the ground & the picture tells the rest of the story. The other photo shows what happens to an air feed line when a cat plugs up.
Guess I will stop the saga here. Time to concentrate all of my efforts on finding a new job since being layed off in December of last year. The car has been a good distraction though & it has been nice to have all of the time I needed to complete it.
Take care everyone!

Quite a story, my man !
Glad you finally got the new cat on there, all is working fine and all that hard work has paid off. Congrats, man !
Now go find a good sneaky place, and burn , I mean, clean the dust off those tires that's been sittin around all this time, they need to be CLEANED OFF. To do this you MUST apply WOT by depressing the accelerator pedal fully to the floorboard.
Make sure the tires spin freely or a good cleaning will not result. The cleaning is complete when there is sufficient smoke surrounding the vehicle that you are no longer able to view the street ahead of you through the windshield. Repeat as neccessary until you can no longer stop smiling.
Enjoy, my friend !

Excellent....combination pizza and beer. All the food groups accounted for.
That cat is hard to understand. And that hose blowing out like that....wow, that took some pressure. Any evidence of the previous owner high-centering it to explain the broken matrix?
Oh and just curious, what cat did you go with this time?

Thank you Sir!
Well, A good friend recommended BFGoodrich GForce TA tires to me. He said they are super sticky & grip the road well. He was VERY correct in his statement! The tires have claws & will not break loose for anything!! I sure LOVE those tires!
Thanks again!

Was a good meal indeed! I am a little "environmentally unfriendly" this morning after digesting all of those food groups too!
The cat was put on by me when I replaced the factory system with a high flow exhaust setup. Did it shortly after I bought the car. By "high centering" it, what do you mean? Are you making reference to an impact of some sort?
The cat I bought is a Magnaflow. Bought it from the RX7 Store. All the ad said was that it was a high flow cat for the 93-95 RX7s`. The size of the pipe is 3" so fit well on the car with the existing downpipe & tailpipe. Will add this though, it flows more than my Bonez did I think because the exhaust note is louder on idle than I remember. I hope it lasts for awhile. We will see.
