When refitting the turbos, do you need new turbo bolts everytime or will the old ones work fine ??

personally i use studs to mount the turbo aswell as studs on the down pipe if there is no v-band option. and i replace the studs and nuts every time there has been a few heat cycles threw the turbo ie some miles have been put on.

Thanks man I recently rebuilt the engine and when I started it up I found the turbos leaking I'll try refitting them again and If it's still leaking then I'll sort something else out

Also I bought the car with a blown engine and when i opened it i found 2tips misssing in the rear. Does that mean the turbos are ruined and that I wont know for sure if they are ok or not untill the engine is run in ????

Check the turbine fins for chipping. If the oil leak is coming from inside the turbo then the turbo oil seal is toast. Check the shaft for play while you're in there.

do you need to use a gasket sealer on the turbos or should the gasket seal fine on it's own ???

never use gasket sealer in the exhaust system, it burns out right away anyways. use the good metal gaskets from mazda and you wont have any exhaust leaks

I reused the studs, but with NEW gaskets...which are a little pricey. I've heard of some trying to re-use the gaskets with mixed results. Turbos are such a PITA to R & R I didn't want to chance it.

I also bought new copper nuts and made sure to torque them to spec with hi-temp anti-seize. No issues over the last three years.
