Hey every1,

My tranny has 101K miles on it and the shifts were gettin more notchy...so i decided to fab up a Tranny brace for it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png The plates are 1/4" steel, plenty stiff for anything the tranny can handle and theres plenty of clearance for the exhaust. I've had no regrets about putting one of these on my car. There is some gear noise that you get, and the vibrations are a tad more noticable than the differential brace i had on prior, but it's entirely 100% streetable IMO. Especially after you feel the difference it makes. Everything has been tightened up, the car feels MUCH more solid. Gearshifts are much smoother and slick. Missing third is IMPOSSIBLE! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Pics are to follow, and this is a **prototype** for the one im thinking about selling! I think I'm going to end up welding in three pieces of 1/2" roundbar inbetween the bolted plates (two straight, one diagonal inbetween) because that steel plate is hard to work with and takes a lot of effort to get the angles right. I think the roundbar would still be PLENTY strong. The welds and paintjob would be much better on the final version, and i'll be letting them go for cheaper than what u can find them for now ;-) Just using this thread to gauge intrest.

rfreeman27 04-04-2004 03:13 AM

price?

boostdfd3s 04-04-2004 10:00 AM

I was thinking ~ $65-70 + shipping for a complete painted brace....but it depends on how cheap i can get them welded up for.

9BASE3 04-04-2004 11:46 AM

I still can't believe how much of a difference that thing made.. Good lord!

Looks very similar to the one made by A-Spec:

http://www.a-spectuning.com/images/transbrace1.jpg

Nice price though, I might be in for that much.

TURBOX2 04-05-2004 12:23 PM

i am in for that much as well!

l8t apex 04-05-2004 01:51 PM

I will add it to my diff brace!

boostdfd3s 04-05-2004 05:00 PM

hey every1,

I realize how similar the design looks to A-Spec's brace. This is one of the reasons im considering putting roundbar inplace of the welded center pieces. It would also make the brace lighter and easier to make due to the fewer welds. I think it'll still be just as strong unless your running 1000HP or something https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png Sry for the long time between replies as im on vacation for the rest of the week.

The list is as follows:

blueskaterboy 04-06-2004 11:26 PM

that sounds like a damn good price in a market where pieces of metal with holes called "braces" are being sold for $200+.

but im definitely in, hopefully it holds up. i'm planning on a massive single, so im gonna need this!

Sinful7 04-07-2004 11:08 AM

i'm in!!!!!

vosko 04-07-2004 04:27 PM

you guys know dragon made these like a year ago now. i had a custom ito spec one on my FD. turbovr6 now has it on his car. the only warning you guys need is your car will vibrate and feel like a race car. everyone seems to be making these braces now. i should have patented them or something...

i just talked to zach (boostdFD3S) and he apologizes for the slow response as he is on vacation. he says that he will begin making them as soon as he can, possibly starting on Monday, but has to work around his school schedule. He also said hes not sure about the shipping charges but will let everyone know

boostdfd3s 04-09-2004 10:05 PM

Alrighty...

Like bursty said i'm def going to crank them out as fast as i can. Shipping will be in the order of payment (havent set up the paypal account so dont go there yet https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR ) and im not sure about the actual cost of shipping yet. I'll check in with UPS and see what it costs.
