Hey every1,

My tranny has 101K miles on it and the shifts were gettin more notchy...so i decided to fab up a Tranny brace for it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png The plates are 1/4" steel, plenty stiff for anything the tranny can handle and theres plenty of clearance for the exhaust. I've had no regrets about putting one of these on my car. There is some gear noise that you get, and the vibrations are a tad more noticable than the differential brace i had on prior, but it's entirely 100% streetable IMO. Especially after you feel the difference it makes. Everything has been tightened up, the car feels MUCH more solid. Gearshifts are much smoother and slick. Missing third is IMPOSSIBLE! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Pics are to follow, and this is a **prototype** for the one im thinking about selling! I think I'm going to end up welding in three pieces of 1/2" roundbar inbetween the bolted plates (two straight, one diagonal inbetween) because that steel plate is hard to work with and takes a lot of effort to get the angles right. I think the roundbar would still be PLENTY strong. The welds and paintjob would be much better on the final version, and i'll be letting them go for cheaper than what u can find them for now ;-) Just using this thread to gauge intrest.

price?

boostdfd3s 04-04-2004 10:00 AM

I was thinking ~ $65-70 + shipping for a complete painted brace....but it depends on how cheap i can get them welded up for.
