Thumbs up

well guys, it's time for me to go car shopping now that my 2002 Kawa ZX-6R Ninja is totalled, and i need some speed. a car is more convenient than a bike here, so that's why i'm not getting another bike. I owned a 91 300ZX TT before the bike, and I loved it. most of the maintenance could be done myself as long as i looked online for how-to's. i've always respected and liked the 3rd gen RX7 and am debating on getting this instead of another Z or a Toyota Supra. any suggestions? hows maintenance, hows performance, etc.

by the way, some fool was telling me that Car and Driver said that the 3000GT VR4 was rated in the top 10 fastest cars or something and that the RX7 wasn't even on the list. are they really faster, or is he blowing smoke up my ***?

I would say that he is blowing smoke up your ***. But if you want to do the homework for yourself. You can check out some sites that have some good info on the rx7

Robinettes site

Lightning in a world of thunder

Car & Driver magazine

You can find the model comparisons in Car and Driver magazine. Numbers don't lie. You will have to search the site a little.

RX7's yeild high performance but can be very sesitive cars. Poor tunning or maintanence can cause you serious dollars and headaches. But when it's behaving properly it's the sickest thing out there.

Looks nice too.

Good Luck .

Hmm my 2 cents... 300ZXs are nasty, heavy beasts, Supras are fast and reliable but not as exotic as an FD.

former RGV250m, NSR250sp, FZR1000 and yam R6 owner who does'nt miss them one bit now I have an FD

Weight HP price

NSX 2700 280 26,000-80,000

Supra 3200 350 20,000-60,000

300Z 3400 350 16,000-25,000

RX-7 2800 260 9,000-18,000

Pros Besides the styling of the rx-7 and accleration is out of this world with a little work.

Cons Engine and turbo rebuild are $7500 and they usually need them every 80,000-100,000 miles

I guess thats what you get for a 1.3L to push out 260 HP

I personally love the purrrrrrrrrrr sound the car makes there is none like it

There all good depending on what you are looking four. The 300Z can take abuse my friend has a 300Z that he always raged on and decently hooked up performance wise and the engine never blew until 190,000. miles but if you compared the work done to his 300z to my 7 running just cat back and intake I would take him in the 1/4. The 7 or the Supra, the supra is capable of very high hp and it is capable of running a 10 in the 1/4 but the 7 can do the same with less hp. As for driving characteristics I couldn't tell you about the Supra but as you probably know the 7 handles like a dream.

Um... Yeah... And RX7 with a full exhaust is unlike any other. My neighbor can hear me start my car... When she's in the shower... I LOVE it.

If you plan on tunning it and making it fast I'd get the 7 or supra.. If you just going to be boring and leave it stock get the 300Z...

I miss my R6 but that's probably becasue my FD is off the road temporarily...True the maintenance on this auto is high and can be expensive but I have to say that being a totally non-mechanic person, I have never had more fun working on my FD...Plus it's really a beast when it's working the way it's supposed to
