Is it possible to blow a seal (apex, corner, or side) when trying to start up a fresh rebuild? I know it's a rhetorical question since I'm pretty sure I managed to, but I just rebuilt my engine (Atkins Rotary 3mm kit, used Atkins Rotary 3mm rotors) and it started up fine on the first try yesterday. Today I went to start it, and there was a loud pop, and now it sounds like a 4 wheeler. I had it running yesterday for a decent amount of time, trying to burn off the assembly lube, and didn't have any problems. AAGH I hate these cars sometimes!

I do have experience rebuilding engines, did it for the military up until 3 weeks ago. I know diesels and rotaries are apples and oranges, but my engines ALWAYS passed dyno w/o needing to fix anything.

Help if you can guys!

Just do the ghetto compression check. Pull the spark plugs and cut the fuel and listen for three even whooshes. If not, you're probably f'ed but double check with a compression gauge. Good Luck.

Brand new set of NGK 7's and 9's. I've been busy lately but I'll be pulling them to check them and the compression sometime this week.

Check the compression first. If good, the answer is obvious.
