Hey guys,

I've had my FD for about a year now and i haven't really done anything to the engine yet.

I was thinking my first upgrade should be an aftermarket air filter (followed shortly by exhaust catback, then yada yada).

Do you guys have any feedback on the different air filters that are out there today for the FD? Performance gains/value?

Or are they all basically the same? I did a search and couldn't really find any good reviews on anything.

I had the Pettit....I hear it is one of the best. Although maybe they just say that cause it is pretty costly.

This topic drives me nuts but does need to be addressed.

An intake is an Intake is and intake... They are all about the same, all they need to do is filter the air. Buy the one that you like best but performance wise they are all about the same. You could jsut stick two K&N's on hard intake pipes and that is about as good as you can get.

Piping dosent really matter, if it did then all the single turbo guys would be getting pipes instaed of jsut sticking a filter on the snail.

You can't go wrong with the m2 Med Intercooler & closed box air intake, get any midpipe.

In my opinion, I like knowing that my intake is not getting hot air from the engine bay.

The stock intercooler is poor, the air separation tank prone to leakage & the stock radiator is inadequate. Address those 1st & do a silicone hose job with zip ties too.

Remember, 2-3 mods & you need a computer, so if you'll be going down the mod road: get a PowerFC or better.

I think it is very important that the air intake is getting cold air. In my opinion open filters in the engine bay are a bad idea.
