[quote name='jspecracer7' date='Oct 20 2002, 07:23 PM']I am thinking that you have a hose in the wrong place. I would suggest that you go back and retrace all of your lines out until you find the culprit.

Thanks, but you'll have a hard time convincing me of this. I verified every single hose, and didn't take anything for granted when replacing them. I know this has been apart before, so that's exactly the kind of problem I was looking for. Everything was in the right place, with the exception of the one that had fallen off. I tested everything I could when it was apart, but of course it's hard to test the actual wiring harness, and I didn't bake the solenoids to see if they had a heat problem. Maybe I should have sprayed them with water https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Now repeat after me:

I love sequential (when it works)

I love sequential (when it works)

I love sequential (when it works)...

BTW- their are no mods yet, but there will be. I plan to add an intake, full exhaust (high flow cat rather than MP), PFC W/datalogit. It won't happen until the plane is flying though.

i'd guess a bad solenoid?

Sounds to me like a problem with the TCA or turbo control solenoid for the vacuum.

We have a winner, with points also going to vosko https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

I had the UIM off again, to replace the coils and harness for another problem, and I decided to test the turbo control solenoid more thoroughly. I put a meter on the solenoid and read about 35 ohms, which seems fine, and is what I did before. This time, I also followed a previous suggestion and heated the solenoid up with a heat gun while watching the meter. Low and behold, the resistance climbed from 35 to about 40 ohms, then when open circuit. I let it cool, and it went right back to 35, then open again when reheated. Just amazing. Guess what I'll be ordering Monday morning https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Do u mine telling us what soleniod is was? Khris

I guess to be more specific, it was the turbo control solenoid on the vacuum side. This is the one that's bolted to the air control valve. And to be really specific, part number N3A1-18-741 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Nice find dude...I had a similar problem but it was one of my check valves that was split...I used to get boost in the next upshift only if I let the RPM drop below 4500...after crazy gluing the **** out of it all was good...

BTW It's not Rikki's nonsequential. He didn't invent the mod. He just was the only guy who made a large daigram how-to on it. He learned it from 7 Sins.

Trev Dagely, Kevin Wyum were doing non-Seq conversions, probably before Rikki had a drivers license.
