Ya... sounds like a thred from the General Discussion forum.. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
GEB: why the hell do you go thru all that?? by the time you get your tire off.. i've got mine changed and im driveing around.. All you guys need to do is go buy a ratchet that is about 3 inches long and has a pivioting head.. makes it a lot easier to get to them... |
Yep, I have a deep well socket and a small ratchet(appx 3~4 inches in length)....talk about EASY

How about a tech question. I've heard platinum plugs are horrible for rotary engines. Can anyone confirm/deny this?
|
Deny. BUR9EQP / BUR7EQP are platinum plugs. Listed in the owners manual and service manual. I've found they don't seem to last much longer than the regular plug, so I don't buy them anymore.
Where did you hear this? |
FD: I usually rotate my tires when I do my plugs....I also like to put the whole car up on jack stands and wipe down the underside of the engine bay and the body under-pan.....just a weeeeeee bit **** about it I guess https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png !!
I've always used the platinum NGK and I've never heard anything negative about them before....I agree that they're expensive and don't last incredibly long, but that's all my baby's gotten in the 6 years I've owned her.... GEB |
Its much easier from underneath. You don't have to remove anything even. You can just reach up through the openings in the subframe. From the top it helps if you remove the intake elbow and the piping from the intercooler. On my car I have a fuel pressure regulator in the way so I always do it from the bottom.

For the life of me, I can not figure out why people say changing
the plugs is hard. This coming from someone who never did anything more than change oil before I bought my FD. I go from the top. Taking the intake elbow off will make it easier, but I dont even do that. I just use a regular 3/8th ratchet and a spark plug socket. Now changing the wires is a little more difficult. |
