everything was going great with my 3rd gen until yesterday on the trip back from carlisle when i stepped on it in 5th gear and watched the tach rise and the speedo sit.......crap clutch slippin bad. the thing that gets me is that the car only has 40k original miles. the only thing i can think of is the previous owner can't drive, but has anyone else had trouble with their OEM clutch, or is it just bad luck. also, i was thinking of the clutch masters stage IV clutch (for future power) and a lightweight flywheel, but my friends (who are mostly focking stupid) say lightweight flywheels arn't worth it for quarter mile times and cause you to bog down. anyway, just looking for some experienced input. thanks guys.

i know a guy who got a 3rd gen new when he was 16 back in 95, first clutch went out at like 5k miles (couldn't drive) 2nd went out at like 45k (still can't really drive). Now has ACT 6 puck, with like 4k on it i think, dunno if he'll burn this one out, but the guy seriously can't drive even after having the car for that long. Isn't uncommon for rotary cars to eat up clutches fast especially if the driver slips the clutch at 4k while parking.

i would avoid the 6 puck if i was you, i've driven it and its really harsh especially with a lightened flywheel. Go with the full face clutch with heavy duty pressure plate. You'll thank yourself later.

i wouldn't go with a puck clutch. Just get a Stage 3 kit, i mean, are you on stock turbos and stuff still? I'm putting a T-78 on my car and i have a Stage 3 kit with heavy duty pressure plate and a 12lbs flywheel, and thats more than enough to cover the hp i'll be making.. don't over do your clutch, you'll end up buying a new tranny...

remember, shock isn't good for input shafts...

well, i only drive the car on the weekends (civic beater) and then not even every weekend, and i plan on making big numbers by the end of next summer so i'm trying to plan ahead. from now till then i'll probably only put about 5k more miles on the car. besides i already ordered the clutch i'll let everyone know how that turns out....also got a apex'i bov kit. next month exhaust.
