I am going to have my motor out, any was wondering about sending the turbos out to www.cheapturbo.com to have them rebuilt (it's only $250!). Has anyone had any experience with this company and would they charge extra because its twin turbo? Would this be a good idea and how much do you think the shipping would cost? I know most of these Q's should be directed to them, but I was wondering about their quality and service, etc.

THIS INCLUDES ALL FACTORY SEALS AND BEARINGS BEING REPLACED, REBALANCING THE SHAFT AND CENTERSECTION AS WELL AS A FULL INSPECTION OF THE STATUS OF ALL OTHER COMPONENTS.ALSO INCLUDES FREE SHIPPING BACK TO THE CUSTOMER.

service can be done on all types and brands of turbochargers. (ie. IHI, Mitsubishi,Garrett...)

customer must send in their turbocharger. please allow 3-4 business days for labor to be completed.

this does not cover any damaged compressor or turbine wheels. customer will be notified if these need to be changed and damaged wheels will be returned to customer when they have been replaced with new.

im sorry that we didnt list this on our site. i will have it updated today.

the twin hitachi's are more expensive to rebuild...

the price for the rebuild runs $799 shipped.

this is all dependent upon the twins having a good turbine housing. the hitachi turbine housings "like" to crack and deteriorate around the wastegate ports, much like a lot of the older toyota turbine housings.

if this is the case, and the turbine housing is cracked, we do not have access to any replacement turbine housings.

please let us know if you have any other questions

thanks

im sure im not the first person to ask about rebuilding the fd's twins.....

i saw that the charge for it is 250.... is that for each turbo or thats for the whole setup?

well, here is a better example, how much would it be to rebuild twins that are still in decent shape. upgraded compressor wheels that flow lets say 475-500cfm. dynamic seals upgrade, ported wastgates, clipped turbines, thrust bearing/gaskets/orings, bearings, and wahtever other seals ?

how about a ball bearing upgrade?

thanks....... if the numbers are good, im sure a lot of people in the forum are willing to get a group buy or something together

you just got a pm

I guess its $799 because of it being 2 turbos.

when you say shipped, does that mean shipped both ways?? or just back to me?

Thanks!

I'd guess the $250 price is for more common turbos like TO4 based Garrett's etc. They are easy to rebuild (relatively) and the parts are cheap and easily available.
