[quote name='Shane.Trammell' date='Sep 12 2005, 11:29 AM']car and driver just finished a long term test on one. it turned out pretty well, but its not really comparable to the fd. the fd is a fast sports car, and the 8 is a quick 4 seater thats more reliable.

That was a really good article. The only complaint that I remember is the oil being sucked up issue.

The RX8 is cool, but if you want a pure, unadulterated, pavement eating sports car the FD is the only real choice.

I sold my RX7 today! ($34,350). . I thought the price was good, I'm planning on spending the money on my WRX. It has already posted a 11.1 on street tyres so should be very impressive with a bit more cash on it. .

Who thinks I should spend the money on another RX7? One that is a bit more streetable. And who thinks I should spend it on the Rex? Just curious to know what you guys think.

if i wanted a family car.... i'd look into getting an rx8... HOWEVER... i don't plan to have kids within the next 38 years or so, so i prefer the sickening power of my FD instead.

The 8 is too much of a compromise. I see it as the worst of both worlds. It won't whoop an Evo, yet it comfortably seats 3.68 people.

34k? Mmmmm. I want to see a picture of the FD that's worth that. Better yet, I want the name and address of the buyer. Boy have I got a deal for them.

As far as the RX8 goes. The styling has grown on me...alittle. At least there's no mistaking it for anything else. But the 'C' pillar design still looks odd to me and I agree with the others, it's not a "Sports Car" so much as a slightly under-powered 2 + 2 that handles well. FWIW, there's a track near my home but I've yet to see one there.

OK. I could live with that. I hadn't considered a 3-rotor. But for a "standard" FD, even if heavily modded, that's a REALLY good price.

I had an FD and I've driven the RX-8. The 8 is way more comfortable, and works a lot better as a daily driver. The 8 feels underpowered, but the handling is exceptional I thought. The 8 can be a fun car to drive everyday, but don't try to race anyone at a stoplight. The 7 is what it is, a performance car. Its uncomfortable, unpractical, unreliable, and very fast in the straights and turns. So I guess the answer to which is better all depends on what you want in a car.
