R1s were a factory racing option, stiffer suspension, other engine options etc.

No engine options unless you count the oil cooler, all cosmetic and suspension differences.

Oil cooler is exactly what I meant, cools oil that goes into the engine? That could be an engine option.

not really an option, cuz its either you get an r1 package or you dont.... unlike a sunroof option for the touring model where you could get it or not.

Alright, I'm not even gonna argue with you guys...you know a hell of a lot more than I do.

Well, didn't you have the option to get which package you wanted back then? Like for instance, we went to buy a Dodge Caliber and we had the option to get either the base, or the SXT etc.

But anyway yeah, jump on it! Bring it back to its former glory and make us all proud.

Thanks for the encouragement Electric! I'm really looking forward to get this car as soon as the court rules it in favor of the shop that my friend owns.

By the way guys the car just ran 1200 miles! 1242miles to be exact! That's pretty convincing, right?

I even saw a 20B engine from a JDM surplus shop here in & it's like $416 with a M/T tranny!

But i guess with that mileage, the stock engine would be more than enough.

Thanks & regards to all!

you should take it no matter the condition, im sure that you're not going to pay much for it

I'm offering like a thousand bucks for this abandoned FD. Hopefully, if the court decides to give it to the owner of the shop (who is my friend) then, I might get it even a tad lower.

Thanks for the tip FikseRxSeven / kabayan!

unless there is MAJOR frame damage... i'd get it. Unless you are planning on racing/tracking this car.... it will be fine after going on a frame machine. The car in the pic is an R1... unless the former owner spent lots of money to change LOTS of stuff over.

#1 DO NOT start the engine on this car *until* you remove the turbo Y-pipe and vacuum/clean down inside the turbos. No telling what is down in there with the outlet open all this time.

#2 take some more pics for us... take some of the damaged areas. and take one inside the opening next to the radiator opening on the passenger side also. that is where the 2nd oil cooler will be.

#3 even if the chassis is totaled.... its worth about $4k atleast for what you could sell the parts off for. they appear to be in cherry condition.

#4 never sleep with a midget.

#5 if you do... don't let anyone film it.

#6 with 1242 miles on the engine... unless it's froze up... that engine will be fine...

#7 the R1 model really isn't very special... all the stuff that makes it an R1 gets replaced as soon as people start modifying them anyway.

Good luck with it and keep us posted!

You never told us your intentions...but what I'm thinkin is, if its in the shop with the fender damaged like that its possible that the suspension geometry in the front end is outta whack...if anything its prolly got bent control arms or tie rods from somebody drifting into a curb or something stupid like that. But really, if the frame is bent only buy it if its gonna be a track car...even if you put the car on the frame machine and pull it back to normal its still never the same...it wont drive like it did before and most likely will need to be re-aligned often...I know this because it happened to my parents in a Mustang...but thats different thats a Ford :P...oh I just thought of something else...if you have a caster//camber gauge (its like a level but its got magnets on the bottom to stick to the rim) use it measure the caster and camber and compare them to the factory specs if its possible to find them and that should tell you if your suspension is damaged.
