I have a project FD3S which isnt started every day, but quite frequently now after it had been left standing for a while, it now starts fine, seems to idle ok but i have noticed towards the back of the block a 'glowing' bright red either turbo manifold or downpipe? so i thought it could be a blocked cat.. replaced that, the only mods that i know of on the car is.. A tanabe cat back exhaust, twin HKS induction kit. running standard turbos, and ecu for now. is there any product you would reccomend to run through the engine to give it a good clean? i know i have used 'cataclean' on previous cars which cleans the injectors and cat convertor.. but im weary of what to run through the Rx-7

any help would be appriciated, Thanks

I wouldn't suggest running it till you figure it out. Is it actually glowing from the exhaust manifold, twins, or the downpipe?

Well i think its comming from the downpipe, towards that way anyway, its hard to see exactly it just glows like a deep orange which isnt normal, what would you suggest to look at first i tried changing the cat and doesnt seem to get as hot..?, its a jap import (right hand drive)

Make sure the oil and coolant lines are good and aren't leaking that run to the twins. That's where I'd start but I havent seen that before on a car unless it's running wide open for several minutes.

Does the car have EGR? I have heard of those sticking open and causing that sort of problem.
