I don't have an official document to back this up at this stage but I have heard that Madza Australia will be bringing the RX-7 back into Australia. It will be a smaller version than the current FD. This is due to the RX-8 developing so much interest with the Australian public. I have a mate who works with Mazda with the SP RX-7 Racing team. If I get more info I will let you guys know. He is also apart of the team that developed the SP MX-5 or Miata for you US guys. They are currently looking at developing an SP RX-8.

i am also hearing, as many of you might have already heard, that the re-release of the seven to the u.s. is contingent on the success of the rx8. i hope that the sales are as popular as the 350z, and then it should be a no brainer....

i also talked to cameron at pettit, and although he could not back it up over the phone, he said that he had heard something similiar from mazda usa as well....

praying....

i read in one of the rx8 write-ups (check rotarynews.com i think they said it too) that a more powerful renesis engine producing 280bhp with 10mm wider rotors was in the planning stages (naturally aspirated, they're trying tos tick with the japanese agreement of 280 max). It would be a 2-seater like the rx-7 and focused on the same as the rx7 was....this may be what you heard about. I dont know if it'll be called an rx7 or just a different rx8 version.

Not sure about performance mods. It will definately be an RX-7. Although I think price will be more of a factor than performance :-( The RX-8 is going to retail at around 56K to 62K out here, where as the RX-7 when it was available was 90K.

That was the main reason the stopped importring them, low sales due to the price tag. So a cheaper car will = a slower car maye non turbo

I thought that due to the movement of the exhaust ports that a turbo was not possible. If they do decide to make another RX7, I hope it does not weigh over 3000lbs like the RX8.
