Well as some know i am getting rid of my lt1 350 in my 3rd gen. I am also putting the car down for a year or so to totally rebuild it.

This is what has been done so far.

I have removed about 50 percent of unneeded wiring just from the front and right side where all the ABS sensor ecu fan relays yadda yadda yada stuff was at. It all weighed im sure about 10lbs. It felt pretty heavy. I removed the ABS unit which proved to be an over heavy son of a bitch. It felt heavier than the 25 lb. weights at the gym.

I began ripping the interior out and consoles. I have to go back to my manual to find out how to pull the big dash out. I removed the ABS computer in the back by the taiillights, but now must remove all the wiring that went to it.This is really proving to be awesome.yikes. All my heating and a/c controls have been removed.

My stock guage cluster has been removed. Stock steering wheel is gone.

I have the complete exhuast system removed. Front bumper and front fenders removed. Engine ready to be pulled. Reverse lights removed.

Whats next?

I am removing all 3 tailight sections for customization. Tailights will recieve circular type pattern(no not the 99 spec either). The middle section im not sure yet what i want to do with it.maybe black it all in except for some lettering maybe ,dont know.

I am removing the rest of the wiring.I will remove the a/c heater blower fan. Remove the vent tubing and electric mirrors.

I will then also go over the whole front with a degreaser and a water hose. Then the bay gets painted black and anything in it.

Hey i seen one of jason's(jt imports) post a little while ago.Do you think he can still get me a 3 rotor for 2 grand?

Well after looking into some things ive decided to go with a rear engine project.

I have found a company that provides a kit including:

4.5lb flywheel

pilot and throwout bearing

adapter plate

pressure plate

8.5lb starter

heavy duty clutch

They supply this for a porsche transmission to any engine wanted.

The porsche transmission has the differential built into the bottom of the transmission with a lsd. I will have to get some new halfshafts built of course, but like i said the whole car is getting rebuilt anyway.

This weekend though, plans will laid out for the front compartment on how everything will be arranged. The rear compartment will also be laid on a map, until i get a porsche tranny an adaptor kit and block for fitment.

here you go.this is what i was quoted:

Rebuilt 930 transaxle and electric speedometer modification: $4400

Add: Flipping of ring and pinion for mid engine use: $1100

Add: Shortened bellhousing and main shaft for space limited

applications (911,914 or Corvair) or for lighter clutch components: $500

Add: Adapter plate & hardware, flywheel & bolts, Kevlar

high performance clutch disc, HP pressure plate, throw out

bearing, and pilot bearing: $1790

Grand Total (all above): $7790

ZF LSD differentials added to most transaxles: (good used rebuilt) $1200

CABLE SHIFT KITS:

We offer a high quality, affordable, versatile, and easy to install cable actuated shift assembly for the Porsche transaxles. It features a Ferrari style shift lever control box that mounts inside the car, two shift cables which connect to brackets on the tranny, and the linkage mechanism to connect them together. One benefit of cable is it can be supplied in any length for a perfect fit your application. The second benefit is engine and tranny movement, or even chassis flex, will not affect the shifting.

Cable shift kit cut to desired length: (approximately) $750 to $900

High torque, light weight, gear reduction starter: MDL #101 $239

new total: $10119

This is for a completely built transmission

sequential shifting

close gear ratio

hi performance heavy duty clutch and flywheel

starter

high performance lsd

electronic speed

This is still less for a hewland sequential tranny and nothing else for 15 g's

happy motoring

7 aug 03:

I completely removed all interior trunk pieces.

I am now down to the final 25% of wiring needing to be removed

I have removed my antenna,spare tire,seat belt units,side mirrors

Taillights have been removed for customization.

Tried to remove the steering wheel it proved to be a bitch.Try it again later.

Anyone want to tell me how remove the steering wheel in any easy way.

Also how to remove the dash, the big piece that holds the vents and cd player.I cant see screws hold it to anything,is it just glued?
