Hello people, I am in the process of making some toe links and trailing arms. Below will be the spec:

Toe link: anodized blue T6061 aluminum solid rod with self lubricating rod end and 304 stainless steel bushings

Traling arms: anodized blue T6061 aluminum solid rod with self lubricating rod ends and 304 stainless steel bushings

Introductory price

toe link set: $180

trailing arm set: $150

Both: $310

Most other aftermarket toe links and trailing arms are made of hollow aluminum tube. The one I am making are made of solid aluminum rod which will be at least 3 times stronger than those hollow ones. I am only making 10 sets each to test out the market so let me know if you guys are interested. Once the first batch is gone, they will not be sold at the same prices. They will be done in 2 weeks and photos will be posted.

Thank you.

I'll do a set of trailing arms

bricke 04-30-2003 07:41 AM

I am in for a set of trailing arms as well.

jackdhammer 04-30-2003 09:25 AM

I am in for both. Pettit's trailng arms are made from Chromoly. Not that I'm big on metals but just wanted to get that out there.

Anyway, what is the difference between the metals? For instance, what is T6061 aluminum? Whats special about it?

apexkw 04-30-2003 09:49 AM

chuck,

i would be down for both the trailing arms and the toe end links. let me know if you need a down payment or what.

Just curious,

Will your toe links/trailing arms have a rubber sheath to cover the bushing joint? The ones I bought from Rotor-Motor-sports were solid with similar specs but wore out within 6 months.

thanks

Little Goat 04-30-2003 07:33 PM

Put me down for both.

To_slow 04-30-2003 08:20 PM

Different grades of metal has different strength. The T6061 is a very strong aluminum alloy. Chromoly is a stronger material than aluminum but for trailing arm application, you don't really need it and besides that, it's a lot heavier than aluminum. Chromoly is better for axle application.

I'll take that as a NO to my question. Thanks!

yayer 04-30-2003 09:16 PM

I am looking into that. If I can find it and it does not cost too much, I will include them. If it's too expensive, I am going to offer them as a option.

I will also offer upgrades on the rod ends. More info coming up. Need to sort out the cost first.

If you want silver, I will just leave it the way it is without anodizing it.

As for downpayment, I am not going to take any until I figure out all the costs on different options and stuff. I should have all the info in 2-3 days.

BTW, the toe links and trailing arms you got from RMS should be hollow. Those are actually made by K2RD and my friend has a set.

BTW, I am making an engine damper as well. It will be the engine brace with a damper.

I think it will be much better than a solid engine brace which creates too much stress on the intake manifold. The damper will be able to reduce the sudden shock from shifting or sudden acceleration but at the same time, it will not create as much stress as all the other aftermarket solid engine braces.

Should I throw it in with the toe link and trailing arms as a package deal?

I will have photos of the prototype over the weekend.

yes https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...

apexkw 05-01-2003 09:15 AM

i would def want the little dust boots. i live near the beach so i dont want sand messing stuff up. also i would rather have the silver also...possible the blue ones. but i dont want my car to be a rainbow cause i got so many different colors on it. oh well keep us updated on it caue i def need a set. i was going to order a set from M2 until i saw this thread. so i need them kinda fast. damn rear end clunking, and wheel hop

jackdhammer 05-01-2003 09:25 AM

I would be in on the engine brace also as long as it's not too steep $$$$. A package deal would rock. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

APEXKW, you might want to do your bushings while you're down there.

vosko 05-01-2003 09:48 AM

chuck you want me to move this to group buy forum ?

7racer 05-01-2003 11:15 AM

Chuck,

count me in as a definite...especially if you get the boots...

apexkw 05-01-2003 12:50 PM

Chuck Huang

What about anodized RED??

rotaryextreme 05-02-2003 03:48 AM

Sorry guys, I can only anodize them in one color as a batch. If I have too many options, it's going to drive up the cost of the parts. The anodizing place charges $100 minimum per color. So I hope we can come to a conclusion on the color of anodizing. If you really want some special color, I can have it done but you will have to pay extra. You can't see those parts anyway once they are installed so I don't think the color is really a issue. It's just eye pleasing when you open up the package. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

So let's vote on the color. The majority rules unless you want to pay extra for your own custom color.

BTW, I can't find those dust boots anywhere. I think they are only available from the Mazda dealer. If you know where to find those, please let me know. Thank you.

Chuck Huang

HobbeZ 05-02-2003 05:51 AM

maybe you can like not anodize them at all and have the cost even cheaper! haha i dunno.. i'm a broke butt at the moment so yah less $$ the better

bricke 05-02-2003 07:12 AM

Blue or silver is fine for me.

93 R1 05-02-2003 07:14 AM

Clear anodize them

93 R1 05-02-2003 07:15 AM

Theres a thread on the other forum about the dust boots. In the 3rd gen section

apexkw 05-02-2003 08:25 AM

how about a link to the other forum thread. i am lazy and dont want to search https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683473.gif

DaveC 05-02-2003 08:26 AM

Sorry for the dumb question here but what are the major benefits of these mods? Willit fix that violent wheel hop at launch?

drew 05-02-2003 09:53 AM

I'd be interested in a set... and I'm with justin, clear anodized

ZeroBanger 05-02-2003 09:55 AM

http://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.ph...t=Toe+And+Links

jackdhammer 05-02-2003 10:37 AM

The cheaper the better. Let anybody who wants a certain color to do that them selves and keep the cost down for the rest of us https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

mjw 05-02-2003 01:00 PM

I'd be interested in a set of these as well (toe links and trailing arms) but I make another vote for either no anodizing or clear, if someone really wants color then let them pay for it. The dust boots that will fit these are also available here at the bottom of the page:

http://www.bakerprecision.com/rodacc.htm

HTH.. I am curious to see your torque brace as well, I have a solid one right now and the stress on the LIM has always worried me.

Matt

rotaryextreme 05-02-2003 05:36 PM

Ok guys, I will anodize those stuff in silver or clear. It's good for corrosion resistance so I will have them anodized no matter what.

I will be figuring out all the cost and stuff over the weekend. Thanks for being patient.

Yes, this is the primary reason to get the trailing arms. You can do quite a bit to lessen wheel hop i.e. solid diff mounts, toe links/trailing arms, rear drag suspension, but in the end...the best way to get rid of wheel hop is to simply launch higher. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/boink.gif
