Rebuilding The Alternator

After taking my alt apart for powder-coating it stopped working.

I looked around for a used one, checked on line for a remanufactured one, and even checked the local part stores.

Here is what I found:

Used from other forum members = $50-$100 (all with at least 50K miles)

Online = $200

Local part stores = $250 (and a core charge)



Not wanting to chance having to take a new one apart just to get my powder-coated end caps switched out, I took mine to a local alt rebuild shop. (American Alternator and Battery) I even brought them the spray paint that I used on my old stator. They replaced all the internals and spray painted the new stator all for $65!



Yup that's 65 bucks! I couldn't believe it. Just to let everyone know...
