I have a Motorcycle battery that weighs 11 lbs that I use in my TII only when I Autocross. I bring a jumper box with me, just in case.

I run a Reb top for the street driving. Those little batteries do not like it if you leave you're door ajar for an hour or so.

If anyone should be using a morotbike battery it should be me, actually I still might, but I'm very stingy about things like this - also a motorbike alternator is bad enough, a battery might be a step too far with demisters.

I think I need a new alternator...under load I charge at 13.3-5, and at idle it drops to about 12.2...that and I have the greddy underdrive pulley on it.

My Power FC says I'm charging 14.1-14.2 at 700 RPM idle, with the greddy pully kit.

But I was mounting the power FC behind the kick panel, and I pissed it off or something, and the fans kicked on. It had some trouble after than ran for about a minute. It went... waaa waaa waaa vrooommmm.....

first: a "reserve" battery has extra charge in it. Say your alternator dies while driving, which then kills your battery. A "reserve" battery has a switch on it, go under the hood flip the switch on the battery and you get enough juice to start it and drive it somewhere close. I THINK braille is developing one, i could eb wrong on the company tho.

As for running a motorcycle battery:

I had an 800watt, 2-12" sub, 6-door speaker system in my rx7. I sat in a parking lot with my parking lights on, my interior lights on and my system playing loud for say an hour before i drove away. I turned the key to start the car and the battery easily cranked over my motor. So to answer the question, no it doesnt scare me. Also i had the battery for almost a year and never needed a jump, and half of that time i wasnt charging the battery fully cause the belt was slipping a bit on the alternator.

That's hot cranking amps (ca), not cold cranking amps (cca) which it only does 280cca. I left my stereo on for no more then 3 min at the most one time and the battery went dead. Mine lasted about 6mo before a cell went bad and I had to jump it everytime afterwards.

Yeah... also if you don't start the car for a week or so the battery will usually be too run down to start the car. Those tiny batteries are kinda cool but they just don't have enough juice. If you need the extra space under the hood you're much better off relocating a larger battery in the rear storage bin. It's not that hard to do.
